Recruiting Competition: Rasool was committed to Virginia, but late in the recruiting process, something didn’t click right with him with the Cavs. He opened his recruitment back up and it came up Rebels. His worksheet also shows offers from South Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee, Clemson, Kentucky, LSU and Florida State.
Clemons: "Ole Miss felt right. I could just see myself playing here. It felt like family and I liked the passion of the coaches. (JUCO DT) D.J. (Jones) and I are both from South Carolina and we hit it off real well. We got close. I also got along with some others, like Quon and others. The atmosphere and the people were great. Everyone got along - all the players get along. I always had a thing for Ole Miss. I can see myself being a member of the Landshark defense. After Coach (Cory) Batoon came by my house and we set the visit, I had a feeling I'd fall in love with Ole Miss. I could be a Bandit (rush DE) or I could grow into the (bigger) defensive end spot. I have to get bigger and stronger and still maintain my speed, but I feel I will do those things when I get in the Ole Miss weight program and get on the training table.
Scouting Report: Long and lean rush end who could be labeled as a 'hybrid' because of how he could project as an outside linebacker too. When rushing the passer, he gets up the field well with quickness. He covers a lot of ground with his long strides. He shows good quickness off the ball and he can dip the shoulder, burst past the tackle, and attack the quarterback. He will need time to develop physically in the weight room and add mass/weight.
Coach Hugh Freeze Quote: “Number one, we like how he fits into our environment and he comes from a great family. Two, he’s got the length and speed we are looking for. He’s explosive. Obviously, we have to bulk him up, but we feel that will be taken care of by Paul Jackson and his staff. Rasool has a great frame to work with. He reminds me a lot of Kentrell Lockett as a freshman. We are excited about his potential.”
