Rebels Snag Street

Trussville, AL, Running Back Jarrion Street came to Ole Miss' summer camp today and decided - along with his family - that he wants to be a Rebel. There were other factors for his decision as well.

Street, a polite youngster whose measurables are 6-2, 202, 4.52 40, had his choice of Missouri, Iowa State, Memphis, Cincy and a host of other schools, but opted for Ole Miss for common reasons.

"Ole Miss felt like home," Street noted in a common theme with recruits since Hugh Freeze and his staff have taken over at UM. "I have a very good relationship with (RB) Coach (Derrick) Nix and my family really liked it at Ole Miss.

"The atmosphere is what I was looking for and besides, playing in the SEC is as good as it gets. That was a huge factor."

Street ran for 1,220 yards on just 183 carries as a junior last year. He also scored 18 rushing touchdowns, but he doesn't consider himself a one-trick pony at running back.

"I also had some good numbers catching the ball. I am proud of my hands and ability to catch the ball," he closed. "I consider myself a balanced back, a back who can do a little bit of everything.

"I can cut, I have speed, I have power, I have good vision and I can catch the ball well. I am balanced."

Street will sign with the Rebels in February.
