Ole Miss Commitment Progress Report

Week nine is in the books for the Ole Miss commitments. Inside we go over their latest stats for last week's game and their season total.

**Ole Miss 4-Star RB commit Justin Connor continued down his torrid pace the last few games. He had a season high 292 rushing yards and three touchdowns in North Panola's 30-18 loss to Water Valley. On defense he picked off a pass and forced a fumble while playing defensive back. In seven games of action he now has 132 carries for 1088 yards and 11 touchdowns. On defense where he plays corner the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder has 18 solo tackles and two interceptions. Last season the Dandy Dozen selection back had 131 carries for 936 yards and eight touchdowns in an injury-plagued season that saw him miss four games of action.

North Panola (3-4) is at home against Independence tonight. Connor has been selected to participate in the Offense/Defense All-American game. Justin is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

** The nation's No. 60 prospect, D.K. Metcalf, had six catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns last Friday in Oxford's win over New Hope last Friday. Through eight games the 6-foot-4, 208-pound wide out has 40 catches for 612 yards and nine touchdowns. The Army All-American had over 1,300 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. D.K. is expected to be at the Vandy game Saturday.

Oxford (6-2) is at home against Clarksdale tonight in front of Coach Hugh Freeze. D.K. will play in the Army All-American and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. Metcalf is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

** 3-Star OL Eli Johnson and Lafayette defeated New Albany last Friday to run their record to 8-1. The 6' 3", 285-pound lineman was selected to the Offense/Defense All-American game as well as the MS/AL All-Star game.

Lafayette plays at Senatobia tonight to decide their Division. Eli is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

**The nation's No. 159 prospect, Benito Jones, and Wayne County crushed Natchez 50-7 last Fri day.. He had two tackles and a quarterback hurry in the contest. The Dandy Dozen selection now has 43 tackles, 13 for a loss, three batted down balls, 11 qb hurries and four sacks through eight games. Last season the first team All-State selection had 84 tackles, three sacks, five for loss, three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.

Wayne County (6-2) is at home against Provine tonight. Benito was play in the Under Armour and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. Jones is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

**The nation's No. 259 prospect Denzel Michell is still waiting to get cleared from his torn achilles tendon that occurred in his spring game against New Hope. Denzel's junior season included 1,450 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. The 5' 11", 212-pound back finished his sophomore season with an area best 1,718 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.

**The nation's No. 37 rated inside linebacker, Donta Evans, helped Archer to a 55-16 win over Shiloh last Friday. In the contest the Ole Miss commit had eight tackles with two coming for a loss. Through seven games Donta has 46 tackles, ten for a loss, three sacks and two blocked punts. Last season the 6-foot-1 Evans had 98 tackles and seven sacks while manning the linebacker and defensive end positions.

Archer (6-1) is at home against Central Gwinnett tonight.

**The nation's No.121 ranked prospect, Jaylon Jones, had a bye this past week. Allen high school has won three straight state titles and a state best 50 consecutive games, allowing only 15.8 points per game through that span.The 5-foot-11 defensive back 31 tackles, three interceptions, seven batted down passes, blocked a punt/kick and returned two back for touchdowns through six games. Last season Jones made the All-State team after collecting a team high 11 interceptions.

Archer is at Flower Mound tonight. Jones has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American bowl on January 2nd.

**The nation's No. 185 ranked prospect, Bryce Mathews, helped Brentwood Academy to a 45-7 win over Father Ryan last Friday. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound left tackle has 48 pancakes through seven games.

Brentwood (7-1) is at University Christian tonight. Bryce is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

**The nation's No. 289 rated prospect, D'Vaughn Pennamon, had 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 8 carries last Friday. The 205-pound tailback has 49 rushes for 604 yards and thirteen receptions for 160 yards with 10 total touchdowns through seven games. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Pennamon averaged over eight yards a carry as a junior.

Manvel (7-1) is at Sam Rayborn tonight.

**Three-star Ole Miss commit Jarrion Street and Hewitt-Trussville are gearing up for a huge showdown against Hoover tonight. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound tailback has rushed the ball 168 times for 1, 130 yards and 14 touchdowns through seven games. He's also chipped in seven catches for 114 yards and a score. Street ran for 1,220 yards and 12 touchdowns on 183 carries as a junior last year.

Hewitt-Trussville (6-2) is at Hoover tonight.

**Scout.com's No. 35 rated offensive guard, Chandler Tuitt, helped Sandy Creek to a 49-14 win over Troup County last Friday. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle has recorded 39 pancakes through six games of action.

Sandy Creek (6-1) is at Troup County tonight. Tuitt has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American game.

**3-Star defensive end, Tariqious Tisdale, and Lexington crushed Westwood 68-6 last Friday to run their record to 6-2. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound two-way player had four tackles and a sack on defense. On offense he rushed the ball twice and scored on both plays. He now has 44 tackles, ten for a loss, and 7 1/2 sacks through seven games. On offense Tisdale has over 260 rushing yards and five touchdowns

Lexington (6-2) faces Dyer County tonight.

**Scout.com's No. 60 rated offensive guard, Jack DeFoor, and Calhoun had a bye this week. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder was named first team All-State for all classifications as junior by the AJC.

Calhoun (7-0) plays Murray County tonight.

**Scout.com's No. 36 rated safety, Greg Eisworth, and South Grand Prairie lost to Texas' #2 ranked team, DeSoto last Friday by a score of 48-31. The 6-foot, 188-pound two-way player was 5-12 for 95 yards and a touchdown in the contest. He had 118 rushing yards and a touchdown. Greg is 56-117 for 872 passing yards/nine touchdowns and 131 rushes for 850 rushing yards/ten touchdowns through nine games. Last season while playing quarterback he had over 3,000 yards.

South Grand Prairie (7-2) has another top ten match up against Mansfield tonight.

**4-Star DE Charles Wiley and Stockbridge defeated Ola 48 -27 last Friday. The 6-foot-2, 242 pound defensive end had two and half sacks in the contest which pushes his season total to 49 tackles, 12 sacks, and 18 tackles for a loss through seven games. He was the Region 4(5A) Defensive Player of the Year, Henry County Defensive player of the Year and first team 5A All-State after collecting 20 sacks as a junior.

Stockbridge (7-0) plays Woodland (GA) Friday.


**JUCO MLB David Luafatasage and Arizona Western beat Mesa CC 27-21 last Saturday. David had five tackles with two coming for a loss in the contest. David now has 50 tackles, eight for a loss, and four sacks through eight games of action. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker totaled 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups as a freshman.

Arizona Western (5-2) has a bye this Saturday.


**The nation's top quarterback, Shea Patterson, and IMG had a bye this past week. For the season Patterson is 59-98 for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns with two interception through six games. Last season Shea helped Calvary Baptist (La.) to a state championship. He was 129-199 for 2,428 yards and 38 touchdowns with only five interceptions.

IMG (6-0) is at home against Paramus Catholic (N.J.) tonight on ESPN 2. The Ole Miss coaches will be there to see him play. This is the third team they have played from New Jersey. Shea has been selected to play in the Army All-American game.

**The No. 90 overall rated prospect, Octavious Cooley, had six catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns last Friday against Brookhaven. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end has 35 catches for 707 yards and 12 touchdowns through eight games. Last season he caught 46 passes for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns. His sophomore campaign saw him catch 51 passes for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Laurel (4-3) plays at South Jones tonight. Cooley has been selected to play in the MS/AL All-Star game in December.


**Gabe Angel, the No. 32 rated athlete in the county, and Cookville were defeated by Smyrna 28-20 last Friday. Through eight games Gabe has over 593 yards of offense and six touchdowns. Gabe is going both ways and has also collected 33 solo tackles and batted down five balls through six games. As a junior the 6-foot-3 1/2, 215-pounder had 40 carries or 454 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 15 catches for 277 yards and three touchdowns.

Cookeville (6-2) is at Oakland tonight.
