Ole Miss Commitment Progress Report

The regular season is coming to an end for many of the Ole Miss commits. How have their fared to this point?

**Ole Miss 4-Star RB commit Justin Connor continued down his torrid pace the last few games. He rushed for 179 and one touchdown in their 34-21 win over Independence last Friday. On defense he picked off a pass for the second game in a row and contributed three tackles. In eight games of action he now has 132 carries for 1088 yards and 11 touchdowns. On defense where he plays corner the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder has 18 solo tackles and two interceptions. Last season the Dandy Dozen selection back had 153 carries for 1, 267 yards and 12 touchdown.

North Panola (4-5) is at home against Holly Springs tonight. Connor has been selected to participate in the Offense/Defense All-American game. Justin was at the OM/Texas A&M game last Saturday.

** The nation's No. 60 prospect, D.K. Metcalf, had two catches for 39 yards and one carry for a touchdown in their 53-13 win over Clarksdale in front of coaches Huge Freeze and Matt Luke. Through nine games the 6-foot-4, 208-pound wide out has 42 catches for 651 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Army All-American had over 1,300 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. D.K. attended the A&M game this past Saturday.

Oxford (7-2) is at Center Hill tonight . D.K. will play in the Army All-American and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. Metcalf is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

** 3-Star OL Eli Johnson and Lafayette were defeated by Senatobia in the last minute of the game last Friday to run their record to 8-2. The 6' 3", 285-pound lineman was selected to the Offense/Defense All-American game as well as the MS/AL All-Star game. Eli attended the Ole Miss/Texas A&M game last Saturday

Lafayette plays at home against Byhalia tonight in there last regular season game of the season.

**The nation's No. 159 prospect, Benito Jones, and Wayne County defeated Provine 28-7 last Friday. He had seven tackles and a quarterback hurry in the contest. The Dandy Dozen selection now has 50 tackles, 13 for a loss, three batted down balls, 12 qb hurries and four sacks through nine games. Last season the first team All-State selection had 84 tackles, three sacks, five for loss, three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.

Wayne County (7-2) is at home against South Jones tonight. Benito was play in the Under Armour and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. Jones attended the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

**The nation's No. 259 prospect Denzel Mitchell is still waiting to get cleared from his torn achilles tendon that occurred in his spring game against New Hope. Denzel's junior season included 1,450 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. The 5' 11", 212-pound back finished his sophomore season with an area best 1,718 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.

**The nation's No. 37 rated inside linebacker, Donta Evans, helped Archer to a 39-6 win over Central Gwinnett last Friday. In the contest the Ole Miss commit had seven tackles and a sack. Through eight games Donta has 58 tackles, ten for a loss, three sacks and two blocked punts. Last season the 6-foot-1 Evans had 98 tackles and seven sacks while manning the linebacker and defensive end positions.

Archer (7-1) is at Dacula tonight.

**The nation's No.121 ranked prospect, Jaylon Jones, and Allen upped their winning streak to 51 games last Friday with a convincing 69-10 win over Plano West . Allen high school has won three straight state titles and a state best 51 consecutive game winning streak. The 5-foot-11 defensive back has 38 tackles, four interceptions, seven batted down passes, blocked a punt/kick and returned two back for touchdowns through eight games. Last season Jones made the All-State team after collecting a team high 11 interceptions.

Allen is at Flower Mound tonight. Jones has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American bowl on January 2nd.

**The nation's No. 185 ranked prospect, Bryce Mathews, helped Brentwood Academy to a 53-6 win over University Christian last Friday. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound left tackle has 53 pancakes through eight games.

Brentwood (8-1) is at home against McCallie tonight in their last regular season game. Bryce was at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

**The nation's No. 289 rated prospect, D'Vaughn Pennamon, had six rushes for 98 yards and two touchdowns in their 65-10 win over Pasadena Memorial yesterday. The 205-pound tailback has 58 rushes for 785 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. The 4-Star back has 15 receptions for 14 0 yards and two touchdowns through eight games. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Pennamon averaged over eight yards a carry as a junior. He was offered by Alabama last week and is taking an official visit to Arkansas this weekend,

Manvel (8-1) is at Pearland next Friday.

**Three-star Ole Miss commit Jarrion Street and Hewitt-Trussville took it on the chin to Hoover last friday. They lost 38-0. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound tailback had 19 carries for 96 yards in the contest. He has rushed the ball 187 times for 1, 198 yards and 14 touchdowns through seven games. He's also chipped in seven catches for 114 yards and a score. Street ran for 1,220 yards and 12 touchdowns on 183 carries as a junior last year.

Hewitt-Trussville (6-3) is at Clay-Chalkville tonight.

**Scout.com's No. 35 rated offensive guard, Chandler Tuitt, and Sandy Creek lost to Woodard Aca 37-7 last Friday. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle has recorded 48 pancakes through seven games of action.

Sandy Creek (6-2) is at Carrollton tonight. Tuitt has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American game.

**3-Star defensive end, Tariqious Tisdale, and Lexington beat Dyer County 42-14 last Friday to push their record to 8-1. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound two-way player had six tackles and a sack on defense. On offense he rushed the ball three times for 58 yards and a score. . He now has 51 tackles, 10 for a loss, and 8 1/2 sacks through eight games. On offense Tisdale has over 330 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Lexington (7-2) faces Crockett County tonight. Tisdale attended the OM/A&M game last Saturday.

**Scout.com's No. 60 rated offensive guard, Jack DeFoor, and Calhoun ran their record to 8-0 with a 70-13 win over Murray County. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder was named first team All-State for all classifications as junior by the AJC.

Calhoun (8-0) is at home against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe tonight. Jack attended the OM/A&M game last Saturday.

**Scout.com's No. 36 rated safety, Greg Eisworth, and South Grand Prairie lost to the state's #6 ranked team Mansfield 28-25 this past Friday. The 6-foot, 188-pound two-way player . He had 118 rushing yards and a touchdown. Greg is 56-117 for 872 passing yards/nine touchdowns and 131 rushes for 850 rushing yards/ten touchdowns through nine games. Last season while playing quarterback he had over 3,000 yards.

South Grand Prairie (7-2) has another top ten match up against Cedar Hill tonight. Greg attended the OM/Texas A&M game this past Saturday.

**4-Star DE Charles Wiley and Stockbridge defeated Woodland 41-28 last weekend last Friday to run their record to 8-0. The 6-foot-2, 242 pound defensive end had two sacks to push his season total to 49 tackles, a state best 14 sacks, and 18 tackles for a loss through seven games. He was the Region 4(5A) Defensive Player of the Year, Henry County Defensive player of the Year and first team 5A All-State after collecting 20 sacks as a junior.

Stockbridge (8-0) plays Union Grove (GA) Friday.


**JUCO MLB David Luafatasage and Arizona Western had a bye last Saturday. David had five tackles with two coming for a loss in the contest. David now has 55 tackles, eight for a loss, and four sacks through eight games of action. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker totaled 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups as a freshman.

Arizona Western (6-2) plays at Pima Community College this Saturday.


**The nation's top quarterback, Shea Patterson, and IMG defeated nationally ranked Paramus Catholic 28-20 last week in front of the Ole Miss staff. For the season Patterson is 66-114 for 1376yards and 16 touchdowns with four interception through seven games. Last season Shea helped Calvary Baptist (La.) to a state championship. He was 129-199 for 2,428 yards and 38 touchdowns with only five interceptions.

IMG (7-0) is at home against Eastern Christian Academy (MD). Shea has been selected to play in the Army All-American game. He attended the OM/A&M game this past Saturday.

**The No. 90 overall rated prospect, Octavious Cooley, had four catches for 72 yards in last Friday's 48-11 win over South Jones. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end has 39 catches for 778 yards and 13 touchdowns through nine games. Last season he caught 46 passes for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns. His sophomore campaign saw him catch 51 passes for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Laurel (5-3) plays at Provine tonight. Cooley has been selected to play in the MS/AL All-Star game in December. The 6-foot-4, 265-pounder attended the OM/A&M game this past Friday.


**Gabe Angel, the No. 32 rated athlete in the county, and Cookville were defeated by Oakland 21-6 last Friday. Through nine games Gabe has over 654 yards of offense and six touchdowns. Gabe is going both ways and has also collected 33 solo tackles and batted down five balls through nine games. As a junior the 6-foot-3 1/2, 215-pounder had 40 carries or 454 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 15 catches for 277 yards and three touchdowns.

Cookeville (6-3) is at Riverdale tonight.
