Ole Miss Commitment Progress Report

Ole Miss 4-Star running back commit Denzel Mitchell made his first appearance of the season and didn't disappoint. Playoffs have started for several of the other Rebel verbals. Inside we go over the latest.

**The nation's top quarterback, Shea Patterson, led IMG to the school's first ever undefeated season last Friday. They defeated Eastern Christian Aca 50-16. The No.3 overall prospect in the country was 12-15 for 157 yards with three touchdowns. IMG does not compete in the Florida playoffs because they play a national schedule. For the season Patterson was 79-129 for 1,533 yards. He passed for 18 touchdowns with four interception. Last season Shea helped Calvary Baptist (La.) to a state championship. He was 129-199 for 2,428 yards and 38 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Shea has been selected to play in the Army All-American game. He arrived in Oxford Thursday and will attend the Ole Miss/Arkansas game.


**Ole Miss 4-Star RB commit Justin Connor and North Panola defeated Holly Springs 40-6 in their last regular season game last Friday. The last five games he has averaged over 180 yards rushing per contest. For the season the 5-foot-10, 185-pound back has rushed 1, 447 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense the cornerback has 32 solo tackles and four interceptions. Last season the Dandy Dozen selection back had 153 carries for 1, 267 yards and 12 touchdown.

North Panola (4-5) is at Cleveland Eastside in the 1st round of the 3A playoffs. Connor has been selected to participate in the Offense/Defense All-American game.

 


** The nation's No. 60 prospect, D.K. Metcalf, has been on fire the last two games since we last reported. Last week he had 7 catches for 184 yards and three touchdowns. The Chargers moved up their game this week to Thursday against Lake Cormorant. They ended up winning the game 56-26 and Metcalf showed out. He caught 10 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns. He made two Sport Center catches in front of Shea Patterson who came to the game to support his future teammate. This season the 6-foot-4, 208-pound wide out has 59 catches for 1019 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Army All-American had over 1,300 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior.

Oxford (7-2) is at Center Hill tonight . D.K. will play in the Army All-American and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. Metcalf is expected to be at the OM/Texas A&M game Saturday.

** 3-Star OL Eli Johnson and Lafayette were defeated Byhalia 50-8 in their last regular season game. They now stand at 9-2. The 6' 3", 285-pound lineman was selected to the Offense/Defense All-American game as well as the MS/AL All-Star game.

Lafayette plays Indianola Gentry tonight in the first round of the 4A playoffs.



**The nation's No. 159 prospect, Benito Jones, and Wayne County defeated South Jones 57-0 last Friday to push their record to 8-2. Benito had seven tackles and a quarterback sack in the contest. The Dandy Dozen selection now has 57 tackles, 13 for a loss, three batted down balls, 14 qb hurries and five sacks. Last season the first team All-State selection had 84 tackles, three sacks, five for loss, three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.

Wayne County (8-2) is at Laurel in perhaps Mississippi's top match up Friday. Benito was play in the Under Armour and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January



**The nation's No. 259 prospect Denzel Mitchell was finally cleared from his Achilles injury last spring and rushed for three touchdowns in first game back. Denzel's junior season included 1,450 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. The 5' 11", 212-pound back finished his sophomore season with an area best 1,718 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.



**The nation's No. 37 rated inside linebacker, Donta Evans, helped Archer defeated Dacula 38-6 last Friday to run their record to 8-1. In the contest the Ole Miss commit had nine tackles. Through nine games Donta has 67 tackles, ten for a loss, three sacks and two blocked punts. Last season the 6-foot-1 Evans had 98 tackles and seven sacks while manning the linebacker and defensive end positions.

Archer (8-1) is at home against Brookwood tonight in their last regular season game.



**The nation's No.121 ranked prospect, Jaylon Jones, and Allen upped their winning streak to 52 games last Friday with a convincing 69-10 win over Plano West . Allen high school has won three straight state titles and a state best 51 consecutive game winning streak. The 5-foot-11 defensive back has 38 tackles, four interceptions, seven batted down passes, blocked a punt/kick and returned two back for touchdowns through eight games. Last season Jones made the All-State team after collecting a team high 11 interceptions.

Allen is at Flower Mound tonight. Jones has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American bowl on January 2nd.



**The nation's No. 185 ranked prospect, Bryce Mathews, helped Brentwood Academy to a 41-32 win over University Christian last Friday. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound left tackle has 58 pancakes through ten games.

Brentwood (9-1) enters the first round of the playoffs tonight.


**The nation's No. 289 rated prospect, D'Vaughn Pennamon, had six rushes for 96 yards and two touchdowns in their 65-10 win over Pasadena Memorial. The 205-pound tailback now has 58 rushes for 785 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. The 4-Star back has 15 receptions for 14.0 yards and two touchdowns through nine games. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Pennamon averaged over eight yards a carry as a junior. He was offered by Alabama last week and took an official visit to Arkansas last weekend,

Manvel (8-1) is at Pearland Friday.



**Three-star Ole Miss commit Jarrion Street and Hewitt-Trussville lost in the first round of the playoffs to James Clemens 22-0 last night. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound tailback had 25 carries for 170 yards in the last regular season game. He finished the season with 225 carries times for 1, 508 yards and 16 touchdowns. He's also chipped in 10 catches for 174 yards and a score. Street ran for 1,220 yards and 12 touchdowns on 183 carries as a junior last year.



**Scout.com's No. 35 rated offensive guard, Chandler Tuitt, and Sandy Creek defeated Carrollton 20-10 last Friday. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle has recorded 54 pancakes through seven games of action.

Sandy Creek (7-2) is at Fayette County tonight. Tuitt has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American game.


**3-Star defensive end, Tariqious Tisdale, and Lexington beat Crockett County 48-14 last Friday to push their record to 8-2. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound two-way player had eight tackles and a sack on defense. On offense he rushed the ball four times for 76 yards and a score. He now has 59 tackles, 12 for a loss, and 9 1/2 sacks. On offense Tisdale has over 380 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Lexington (8-2) faces Memphis Ridgeway tonight in the first round of the playoffs tonight.

**Scout.com's No. 60 rated offensive guard, Jack DeFoor, and Calhoun ran their record to 9-0 with a 70-0 win over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder was named first team All-State for all classifications as junior by the AJC.

Calhoun (9-0) is at home against Coahulla Creek tonight in there last regular season game.

**Scout.com's No. 36 rated safety, Greg Eisworth, and South Grand Prairie lost to Cedar Hill 22-13 last Friday to end their regular season at 6-4. The 6-foot, 188-pound two-way player had 61 rushing yards and 110 passing yards with two touchdowns in the contest. Greg has 992 yards passing passing yards/11 touchdowns and 913 rushing yards/ten touchdowns. Last season while playing quarterback he had over 3,000 yards.

South Grand Prairie (6-4) has finished their regular season.

**4-Star DE Charles Wiley and Stockbridge defeated Union Grove 62-0 last Friday to run their record to 9-0. The 6-foot-2, 242 pound defensive end had two sacks to push his season total to 57 tackles, a state best 17 sacks, and 21 tackles for a loss through nine games. He was the Region 4(5A) Defensive Player of the Year, Henry County Defensive player of the Year and first team 5A All-State after collecting 20 sacks as a junior.

Stockbridge (9-0) plays Northgate (GA) Friday.

 

**JUCO MLB David Luafatasage and Arizona Western lost to Pima CC 17-13 last Saturday. David had four tackles with two coming for a loss in the contest. David now has 78 tackles, 12 for a loss, and four sacks through nine games of action. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker totaled 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups as a freshman.

Arizona Western (5-4) plays New Mexico Military CC this Saturday.

 


**The No. 90 overall rated prospect, Octavious Cooley, had four catches for 48 yards and two rushing touchdowns in last Friday's 38-0 win over Jackson Provine. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end has 43 catches for 826 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. Last season he caught 46 passes for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns. His sophomore campaign saw him catch 51 passes for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Laurel (7-3) plays at home against Wayne County tonight. Cooley has been selected to play in the MS/AL All-Star game in December.

 

**Gabe Angel, the No. 32 rated athlete in the county, and Cookeville defeated Riverdale 42-21 last Friday to finish the regular season at 7-3. Through nine games Gabe had 3 catches for 54 yards and three rushes for 51 yards and a touchdown in the contest. He now has 34 rushes for 350 yards and seven touchdowns/21 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns.Gabe is going both ways and has also collected 38 solo tackles and batted down five balls . As a junior the 6-foot-3 1/2, 215-pounder had 40 carries or 454 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 15 catches for 277 yards and three touchdowns.

Cookeville (7-3) faces Hardin Aca tonight in the first round of the 6A playoffs.
