Playoff time for many Rebel recruits

**The nation's No. 289 rated prospect, D'Vaughn Pennamon, put Manvel on his back in their 70-56 win over Clear Creek in the 2nd round of the 6A D11 playoofs. Pennamon had 24 rushes for 364 yards and five touchdowns in the contest. The 205-pound tailback has 112 rushes for 1, 321 yards and 20 touchdowns this season. The 4-Star back has 19 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Pennamon averaged over eight yards a carry as a junior.

Manvel (10-2) plays Strake Jesuit in the Regional round of the 6A D11 playoffs Friday.

 


** The nation's No. 60 prospect, D.K. Metcalf, and Oxford defeated Germantown in thrilling fashion by a score of 40-33 in the quarterfinals of the 5A playoffs last Friday. D.K. had 9catches for 119 yards and four touchdown in the contest. He caught the game winning touchdown over National 100 member Nigel Knott with less than 20 seconds left on the clock. This season the 6-foot-4, 208-pound wide out has 76 catches for 1,229 yards and 20 touchdowns. The Army All-American had over 1,300 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior.

Oxford (11-2) is at home against West Point tonight in the 5A North Finals. D.K. will play in the Army All-American and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. Metcalf attended the OM/LSU game Sat.

 

**The No. 90 overall rated prospect, Octavious Cooley, had four receptions for 123 yards and three touchdowns in last weeks 35-0 win over Pascagoula in the 2nd round of the playoffs. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end has 61 catches for 1, 209 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. Last season he caught 46 passes for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns. His sophomore campaign saw him catch 51 passes for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Laurel (10-3) faces Wayne County tonight in the South 5A Finals. Cooley has been selected to play in the MS/AL All-Star game in December. The 6-foot-4, 255 pound tight was in Oxford last Saturday for the OM/LSU showdown. 

 

 

**The nation's top quarterback, Shea Patterson, led IMG to the school's first ever undefeated season. IMG does not compete in the Florida playoffs because they play a national schedule. For the season Patterson was 79-129 for 1,533 passing yards. He threw for 18 touchdowns with four interception. Last season Shea helped Calvary Baptist (La.) to a state championship. He was 129-199 for 2,428 yards and 38 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Shea has been selected to play in the Army All-American game. Shea attended the OM/LSU game this weekend and will enroll in January.

**Ole Miss 4-Star RB commit Justin Connor and North Panola saw their season come to an end in the second round of the 3A playoffs. They lost to Cleveland Eastside 40-38. Connor ran a 45 yard touchdown in the last minute but it was called back. Justin rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns in the contest to finish his season with a blistering pace. For the season the 5-foot-10, 185-pound back rushed for 1, 640 yards and 17 touchdowns. On defense the cornerback had 36 solo tackles and four interceptions. Last season the Dandy Dozen selection back had 153 carries for 1, 267 yards and 12 touchdown.

Connor has been selected to participate in the Offense/Defense All-American game and attended the OM/LSU game Saturday.

 

 


**Three-star Ole Miss commit Jarrion Street and Hewitt-Trussville finished their season at 7-5. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound tailback had 225 carries times for 1, 508 yards and 16 touchdowns. He's also chipped in 10 catches for 174 yards and a score. Street ran for 1,220 yards and 12 touchdowns on 183 carries as a junior.

Jarrion attended the OM/LSU game Saturday.

 

 

**Gabe Angel, the No. 32 rated athlete in the county, had 36 rushes for 355 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Gabe had 25 receptions for 389 yards and four touchdowns. On defense Gabe finished the season with 51 tackles, 8 batted down passes while manning the free safety position.As a junior the 6-foot-3 1/2, 215-pounder had 40 carries or 454 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 15 catches for 277 yards and three touchdowns.

Gabe was in Oxford Saturday for the OM/LSU game and will enroll in January. 

 

**4-Star DE Charles Wiley and Stockbridge defeated Gainesville 40-34 in overtime to advance to the 5A quarterfinalslast Friday in the 1st round of the 5A playoffs to push their spotless record to 11-0. The 6-foot-2, 242 pound defensive end had a sack and seven tackles to push his season total to 70 tackles, a state best 18.5 sacks, and 21 tackles for a loss through eleven games. He was the Region 4(5A) Defensive Player of the Year, Henry County Defensive player of the Year and first team 5A All-State after collecting 20 sacks as a junior.

Stockbridge (12-0) plays Glenn Aca (GA) tonight in the 5A quarterfinals.. 

 

 

**3-Star defensive end, Tariqious Tisdale, and Lexington were defeated by Memphis East 42-21 in the 3rd round of the 4A playoffs. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound two-way player had nine tackles and a sack at defensive tackle and close to a 100 yards rushing. He finished the season with 60 tackles, 14.5 for a loss, and 12.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries while manning the defensive tackle position. On offense Tisdale had 62 carries for 746 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

Tisdale attended the OM/LSU game Saturday after being named the Region 7(4A) Defensive Lineman of the Year. 


**The nation's No. 159 prospect, Benito Jones, and Wayne County defeated Pearl Riverl Centreal 37-13 last Friday in the quarterfinals of the 5A playoffs to push their record to 10-3. Benito had 10 tackles and a quarterback sack in the contest. The Dandy Dozen selection now has 73 tackles, 6 sacks, 17 qb hurries, 21 tackles for a loss, and three batted down balls. Last season the first team All-State selection had 84 tackles, three sacks, five for loss, three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.

Wayne County (10-3) is at Laurel tonight in the Class 5A South Finals. Benito will play in the Under Armour and MS/AL All-Star games in December/January. He took his official visit to OM last weekend and will enroll in January.

 



**The nation's No. 37 rated inside linebacker, Donta Evans, helped Archer defeat McEachern 24-21 in the second round of the 6A playoffs last Friday to run their record to 11-1. In the contest the Ole Miss commit had 12 tackles and the game winning interception. Through 12 games Donta has 82 tackles, 12 for a loss, three sacks, five forced fumble and two blocked punts. Last season the 6-foot-1 Evans had 98 tackles and seven sacks while manning the linebacker and defensive end positions.

Archer (11 -1) faces Mill Creek in the 6A quarterfinals tonight. Donta took his official visit to Ole Miss last weekend and will enroll in January.

 

 

**JUCO MLB David Luafatasage and Arizona Western have finished their regular season. David leads his team with 82 tackles, 12 for a loss, one pick, two fumble recoveries and four sacks through nine games of action. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker totaled 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups as a freshman.

Arizona Western (6-4) plays in a bowl game in two weeks.



**The nation's No.121 ranked prospect, Jaylon Jones, and Allen upped their winning streak to 55 games with a 41-10 overtime win over DeSoto in the second round of the 6A D1 playoffs. Allen high school has won three straight state titles. The 5-foot-11 defensive back had three pass breakups in the contest. He now has 41 tackles, five interceptions, 10 pass breakups, blocked a punt/kick and returned three kicks for touchdowns . Last season Jones made the All-State team after collecting a team high 11 interceptions.

Allen (11-0) faces Martin tonight in the Regional round (3rd round). Jones has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American bowl on January 2nd.

 

**The nation's No. 185 ranked prospect, Bryce Mathews, helped Brentwood Academy to a 24-7 win over Baylor last Friday in the D11 Class AA Semfinal round. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound left tackle has 78 pancakes through twelve games.

Brentwood (11-1) faces Montgomery Bell in the Championship round on December 5th. The 4-Star OT attended the OM/LSU game.

 

 

** 3-Star OL Eli Johnson and Lafayette were defeated by Noxubee County in the last second of the 4A quarterfinals last Friday. They finished their season at 9-3.

The 6' 3", 285-pound lineman was selected to the Offense/Defense All-American game as well as the MS/AL All-Star game. Eli attended the OM/LSU game Saturday and will take his official visit next weekend before enrolling in January.

**Scout.com's No. 35 rated offensive guard, Chandler Tuitt, and Sandy Creek saw their season come to an end with a 14-7 overtime loss in the 2nd round of the 4A playoffs. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle recorded 72 pancakes in a 9-3 season. Tuitt has been selected to play in the Offense/Defense All-American game.

**Scout.com's No. 60 rated offensive guard, Jack DeFoor, and Calhoun ran their record to 13-0 with a 20-14 win over Peach County in the 3nd round of the 3A playoffs. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder was named first team All-State for all classifications as junior by the AJC.

Calhoun (13-0) faces Elbert County tonight in the 4th round of the 3A playoffs.
