Name: Jaylon Jones
Town: Allen, TX
Size: 5-foot-11, 182, 4.49 (forty)
Recruitment: Committed to Ole Miss over offers from Texas, Ohio State, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Michigan, Auburn and others
Scout.com Ranking: No. 129 overall prospect/No. 12 CB
Scout.com evaluation: The first thing that Jones will bring to Ole Miss is a winning attitude. He helped Allen to three state championships in Texas' largest classification during his time-frame there that carries a 64 game winning streak until they got knocked out in the state semifinals this season. The next thing that jumps out at you is speed. He ran a sub 4.5 at The Opening and has elite top end speed. What we love about him is that he covers like a corner and hits like a safety. That's what every college recruiter covets. He's projected to play free safety at Ole Miss but he has the ability to play all five defensive back positions like we saw from Mike Hilton. The one thing that we have learned from coach Dave Wommack is that he loves players who can play multiple positions. Jones is definitely one of them.
Another area that he excels in is the return game. We all know that Ole Miss has lacked a dynamic kickoff returner for several seasons now. In fact, they ranked last in return yards in both kickoffs and punts. Jaylon will give the Rebels an additional option outside of Jalen Julius.
