“We were working on A.J. Brown and Nigel (Knott),” said Jones, a 4-star cornerback with Scout.com. “I was cool with Terrell Hall. He’s quiet. We couldn’t tell if he wasn’t liking it. We tried to show them everything, and we recruited them hard all weekend. I think it went well with the majority, but there were some who were playing hard. I think they liked it. We told them the truth, and it’s going to be a special class.”
Jones, the No. 9-rated cornerback in the country and No. 125 overall by Scout.com, said there's nothing about Ole Miss he doesn't like and that's why he committed so long ago.
“I’ve been here so many times,” he said. “I like everything. There was a lot to eat, and I got to meet a lot of the players. Deontay (Anderson) and DaMarkus Lodge and Chad (Kelly) and Armani (Linton). I met a lot of the DBs. I have a chance to compete, but nothing is guaranteed. I can play nickel. They see me there right now. In high school I played nickel back, so that position I’m comfortable with and it’s a great spot for me.”
Jones has no doubts about his high school teammate, OL Greg Little.
“Greg is 100 percent sealed, but I’m in his ear all the time,” he said. “I’ve been staying in Deontay’s ear. I want to play with him. We met at the Opening. I think we got him maybe. This class is strong. We met at camps and we have a great bond. I met Shea (Patterson) at the Opening and we are already like brothers. Deontay and A.J., we are real tight off this visit. Some athletes think they are too good, but we are all tight with each other.”
Jones said he is excited about Signing Day.
"It will be a big relief. I've dreamed of this since I was little," he closed.
