Dream comes true for St. Aloysius offensive tackle

Ben Brown out of Vicksburg, Miss., was born a Rebel. He comes from a fourth generation Ole Miss family that played for the Rebels. Tuesday he made it known he plans to continue the tradition.

"Whenever coach (Matt) Luke and coach (Grant) Heard told me Friday that I had an offer from Ole Miss, I knew that's where I wanted to be," Brown said. "When I called them today to let them know I was ready to commit they were really excited. I couldn't ask for a better day. This is the best day in my life."

To say that Brown is no stranger to Ole Miss would be a gross understatement. His grandfather, (TE) Allen Brown, played for Ole Miss and the Green Bay Packers in the 60s. Brown's grandfather on his mother's side, (OG) Bobby Robinson, was a lineman for the Rebels in the 60s. It doesn't stop there, as his father, (OG) Tim Brown, and uncle, (OG) Burkes Brown, both played for Ole Miss in the late 80s through the early 90s.

"Ole Miss has always been in my blood, but really this was more than just where my family played. I just felt the most comfortable there. I have been up there for a few of their camps, and I felt a connection with coach Luke and their staff. I've always felt very comfortable when I am up there. I just can't wait to put on the Red and Blue. It's a dream come true."

The Rebel coaches made sure to emphasize to Brown they want him because of his skills and not his family ties.

"They told me that they were very excited that I have decided to join their family. They are ready for me to be a part of their team. They emphasized to me that they want me because of the player I am and not because of the family I come from. That made me feel really good. I like I said; this is a dream come true. It doesn't get any better than this."
