Name: Tyler Williams
Town: Oxford, Miss
Size: 6-foot-2, 180
Recruitment: Ole Miss, Mississippi State (offer), USM, UAB (offer), Georgia, and Alabama
Scout.com Ranking: NR
Scout.com evaluation: The All-District selection has not quite made a name for himself yet in the recruiting circles but the word is getting out. Mississippi State and UAB offered Tyler this past week and an offer from Southern Mississippi could be next.
We had a chance to see Williams play several times this past season and the one thing that jumps out at us is that he doesn't shy away from the bright lights. Two of his best games this past year were against Oxford and Noxubee County. Both were top five ranked teams within the state of Mississippi. He goes both ways for Lafayette but make no mistake he's a defensive back all the way.
You don't see many 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-3 cornerbacks who are truly cover corners but Williams is one of them. He can turn his hips and can play soft and press coverages. He needs to continue to work on his ball skills but the natural skills are there to become a very good D1 prospect.
