Four late runs helped the Rebels knock off the Redhawks 6-4 for the series sweep

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ole Miss sophomore Will Golsan sent a Southeast Missouri pitch over the left field wall for a two run homer.

Golsan's at bat was just what the Rebels needed to build momentum. After a holding the Redhawks scoreless in the top of the eighth, the Rebels regained the lead off of a Holt Perdzock two-RBI single to win their seventh straight game of the season.

Postgame Quotes

Mike Bianco on the win: "I thought we had some good swings early on, we just didn't have things falling in. You have to give credit to their defense just making play after play. Fortunately, we pitched well."

Will Golsan on his home run and staying in the game: "It felt good. I kept my hands back and tried to drive it somewhere, and luckily it got over the fence.  We just tried to stick with our at bats. We hit the ball really hard today, just like yesterday. We knew it was gonna fall, it was just a matter of time."

Dallas Woolfolk on coming out of the bullpen:  "I felt pretty good coming out of the bullpen and trying to get the job done. I feel good about the fastball. That's been my best pitch so far, but I can rely on the slider too at times.

  • Golsan hit the second home run of his Rebel career against the Redhawks.
  • Junior pitcher Wyatt Short earned his first win of the 2016 season.
  • All four runs allowed by Ole Miss pitchers were unearned.
