Mike Bianco on Rebel offense: “I don’t think we got any good swings off of (Stevie) Powers, the left hander at the beginning. It seemed like, especially the first few innings, if we did get in a good count it seemed like we were just late. We’d foul ball off and pop the ball up. The disappointing thing is a few opportunities we had. I think four times we had a runner in scoring position with two outs and we’d strike out. We finished the inning with a strike out. Didn’t even give ourselves a chance. On the opposite end they showed how good they are. We tied it up, but they came back in the eighth. We just couldn’t get off the field.”
James McArthur on his performance: “There were some good parts, and there were some bad parts to it. Got behind on some counts, and the game plan was to go out, attack early and get ahead. Try to mix in some breaking balls early, and try to work backwards sometimes. Did that at times. I was successful and had some good innings. Other times they took advantage of bad pitches.”
- The 5-1 loss to Southern Miss ended McArthur's four game win streak.
- Southern Miss' run in the sixth inning broke McArhur's streak of 16.0 straight scoreless innings.
- J.B. Woodman is now 16-of-32 on the season with runners in scoring position.
