Todd Harris had a chance to take in his first visit to Ole Miss this past Saturday.
"I just wanted to come up here and meet the coaches and check out the faciltiies," Harris said. "I just wanted to get a feel for the overall school. It was really more than I was even expecting."
Ole Miss was one of the first schools to get in the game for Scout's No. 44 overall ranked player.
"Last spring our relationship started. Coach (Grant) Heard came down to our school when things really started picking up for me. They were the third school to offer me. I started building a good relationship with their coaches right after that."
What has he learned about the Rebels so far?
"They are always competing for a championship. They have a great coaching staff and send guys to the league every year and have a very good academic school."
The 6-foot-0, 172 pound safety hurt his back recently so he did not get a chance to compete at the camp.
"I couldn't work out because of a back injury. I came just to check out the campus and get a feel for everything. I'm resting my back right now. I tweaked my back working out. It's sore right now but I still wanted to come up here and check out everything."
What did Harris want to address with the coaches during the visit?
"I just want to continue building my relationship. This is my first time to get to meet everyone face-to-face. I have spoken with coach Heard in person. I just wanted to meet some of the other coaches."
Who are the main schools involved right now?
"LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, and Michigan. There's a lot of them but those are the ones that come off of the top of my head."
Todd traveled with his friend Patrick Queen to the Ole Miss visit. Patrick is a LSU commit and stated he's trying to pull him to the Tigers. Is that common for Todd?
"Guys that are committed to LSU and the fans are always telling me to stay home and play for the LSU Tigers. But it's more of a weight thing for me. I have to do what is best for me. I'm trying to stay patient. I'm not trying to make a decision anytime soon."
What would it take for an out of state school to make him feel more comfortable?
"Like I said just to get a feel for the school. That's why I came down to Ole Miss. I wanted to get a good feel for it. I've got a great relationship with these guys up here. I've been to Alabama, Mississippi State and Arkansas. I'm just taking in all the colleges I can right now."
What stood out about the MSU trip?
"Their coaching staff is great and have nice facilities. It was just a great visit."
"Everything was amazing out there. The team, coaches, everything."
Who needs Todd Harris the most?
"I can't really say. I know I'm very high on the LSU list. TCU is really trying to get me too. Same with MSU and Ole Miss. All four of those schools are coming after me really hard."
