Alabama and Mississippi State now talking with Rockette

Devin Rockette out of Oxford, Miss., arrived at a local combine this past week with a couple of SEC schools showing increased interests.

"Things have been going real well since I committed to Ole Miss," Rockette said. "I know Alabama have started recruiting me a little hard. They have been talking to me. Trying to get me up there. MSU too."

What is Alabama saying?

"They are just saying they are trying to get me to their camp. They are trying to get me to show out to see what I can do."

Rockette attended the MSU Big Dog camp in June and put up some impressive numbers. Including a 4.4 forty and 39.5" vertical.

"I ran my 40 down there and really liked it. They liked how I'm a lock down corner. They have been talking to me a lot about getting me back up there on their campus. I don't have any plans right now to go back down there, but I'm going over to the Alabama camp later this month."

When is the last time Devin has been in touch with the Ole Miss staff?

"I talked to them yesterday. We were talking about how my workouts went and everything. We didn't really talk about the other schools. If they want to know; I'll let them know. It's not that I'm holding back anything. They just don't ever ask me about other schools."

What made Ole Miss the best fit for the 5-foot-11, 170-pound corner?

"What really made it the school for me is that it's the school I've grown up watching. It's the school my dad grew up watching before he passed away. He always loved Ole Miss and had a dream of me playing for them one day. I just felt that was his favorite team so it was mine too."

Ole Miss will graduate one of their starting corners this year and there's talks of another one leaving early. Spots will be open for Rockette.

"Well they said Ken Webster might be leaving early. Tony Bridges graduates. With all them leaving they have to develop the other corners. They think I can go in and compete and try and get on the field. May the best man win. That's really given me a since of urgency to work hard this offseason. I'm working hard in the weight room and my jump ball. I'm trying to work on getting the ball at the highest point. Last year I was use to leaning and not locating. Now I'm working on locating and leaning. I have got to work on that."
