Scout.com evaluation: Alex visited Ole Miss during his freshman season and knew then that one day he wanted to wear the Red and Blue. He finally got the chance to work out in front of the Ole Miss staff in June at a 3-Day camp and earned a scholarship. He committed shortly thereafter.

The Rebels feel like they are getting a quarterback with a big body who possesses a big arm that can really move around. That is evident by his 4.71 forty time that he ran at a Nike combine this spring.

Faniel's team went 1-9 this past season. His sophomore season he was injured and didn't get to play. The publicity has not been there but offers from the instate schools, Virginia and Virginia Tech, show that he has earned the respect within the state of Virginia. Faniel played in a Wing T offense as a junior. He only put the ball in the air 93 times in 10 games for a little over 880 passing yards. The mobile quarterback did rush for nearly a 1,000 yards which will fit in nicely for Ole Miss' read/option offense. This season Glen Allen will go to a passing offense as they have changed offensive coordinators. This will allow Alex to grow more in the passing game.

Alex is a little raw due to his inexperience but Ole Miss is banking on his skill set to develop nicely into their system.
