"Things really started heating up with me and Ole Miss when I opened it back up," Yeast said. "That's when things got more serious. I started talking to coach (Jason) Jones a lot after that. They wanted me to come down there and check it out so me and my father came over there Saturday to look around. He liked it. I liked it. We both were really impressed."
The interest in Ole Miss actually started before the visit took place.
"I've always enjoyed watching them play on tv for a while now. I wanted to see what it was really like down there."
What he saw in Oxford was impressive.
"It went really well. I got to talk to the coaches and players. I got a really good feel from all of them. My expectations were high and it definitely met my expectations of what I thought it would be and some. They run a first class operation down there."
What stood out the most during the Ole Miss visit?
"Their coaching staff, definitely. It's a family oriented program. That really stood out to me. That's what I'm looking for."
Russ is listed as an athlete by Scout.com but the Rebels plan on using him at defensive back.
"They want me to play corner with the ability to jump in nickel if need be. That is what I want to do. I've always preferred defensive back. They like it that I have long arms. I can get in and out of my breaks and have the ball skills because I've been a receiver and can play man. Coach Jones and I sat down and went over their schemes. I really like how they plan to use me. I think I would be a great fit in their defense. They highlight my skills as a player."
The visit to Oxford was good enough that a return visit is expected.
"I will probably be taking an official visit there now. I was going to graduate in December, but I transferred schools so I'm not getting out until May now."
Yeast has made several unofficial visits as of late and more are planned.
"I went to Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss the past few days. I enjoyed my visits to the Alabama schools as well. I will go to Illinois Thursday and Iowa Friday."
Russ released his top six recently. The schools included were Ole Miss, Auburn, Louisville, Iowa, Illinois, and N' Western.
