D.D. Bowie is our Player of the Week

The Ole Miss commits continue to march through their final season before arriving in Oxford. Many put up some impressive numbers but none quite matched Morton star athlete D.D. Bowie. The national 100 commit accounted for six touchdowns last week.

Markel Winters helped Jones CC to a 51-3 win over Mississippi Delta CC Thursday. The 6-foot-4, 256-pound defensive end had 3 tackles, one for a loss, and a sack in the game. Through two games Markel has seven tackles, five sacks, four tackles for a loss and a pass deflection. The Floridian is expected to be in attendance for the Ole Miss/Alabama game and is set to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.

 

 

 

Javien Hamilton helped Jones CC to a 51-3 win over Mississippi Delta CC Thursday. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback had one tackle and a pass deflection in the game. Through two games the Bay Springs product has four tackles and a pass deflection. He is expected to be at the Ole Miss/Alabama game and is set to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.

 

 

Jay Johnson has been an instant impact player for East Mississippi CC's defense this season. The redshirt freshman collected seven tackles and a sack in the game. Through two games the former Ole Miss signee has 14 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is playing middle linebacker this season. The former Bruce native was a Dandy Dozen selection as a senior and signed with Ole Miss before enrolling with East Mississippi CC in the spring of 2015. He attended the OM/Wolford game and is expected to be back at the Ole Miss/Alabama game. Jay is expected to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play four.

 

 

 

Alex Faniel was 14-18 for 198 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound signal caller was 27-43 for 427 yards and five touchdowns through two games. He also has 128 yards rushing. Alex is on track to graduate in December and is expected to be at the Alabama game this weekend.

 

D.D. Bowie was our Player of the Week after scoring six touchdowns this past week against Jefferson. He scored in a variety of ways. Three rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown, one 85-yard kickoff for a touchdown and a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown. He carried the ball 11 times for 187 yards and caught three passes for 29 yards. Defensively the Under Armour All-American had two tackles and two pass breakups while playing cornerback. Through three games D.D. has collected nine tackles, four pass breakups and blocked a field goal. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way player has 11 catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns. He has rushed the ball 26 times for 295 yards and four touchdowns. Bowie is expected to be at the OM/Alabama game Saturday.

 

 

Josh Clarke had eight tackles, three sacks, one pass breakup and forced a fumble last Friday. He opened his season with 11 tackles with three of them coming for a loss i The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker is expected to be in Oxford for the Georgia game.

 

 

 

Willie Gay and Starkville had a bye this past week. The Army All-American now has 24 tackles, two break up passes and two blocked kicks through three games. The 4-Star LB is expected to be at the OM/Alabama game this weekend.

 

 

 

 

A.J. Harris continues to tear up the field as he collected 11 tackles and a pick in the game. Offensively he collected 124 yards of offense. Through four games Harris has over 40 tackles, two interception and seven pass breakups. Offensively the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder has over 400 yards from the line of scrimmage. He is also expected to be in attendance for the Ole Miss vs Alabama game.

 

 

 

Bryan Jones recorded seven tackles and a sack in week two for Madison Preparatory Academy in Baton Rouge. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end now has 16 tackles and four sacks through two games. Bryan is expected to be in attendance for the OM/Alabama game.

 

 

 

 

Jamar Richardson could be the true sleeper in the class. He had another standout game as he caught a pass for a 47 yard touchdown and had a rush for a 59 yard touchdown. . The 6-foot-0, 170-pound two-way player for Aliceville (Ala) had three touchdowns and over 350 yards of offense and six touchdowns through three games. On defense he has collected three interceptions and had four pass deflections. Jamar is expected to be at the OM/Alabama game.

 

 

 

 

Devin Rockette had four tackles and a pass deflection against Lafayette last Friday.. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound cornerback has 16 tackles and two pass breakups and a blocked punt through four games. Devin attended the Ole Miss' season opener and is expected back this weekend.

 

 

 

Ben Brown and Lavante Epson continue to start on both the offensive and defensive line. Ben is projected as a guard and Epson as a center on the next level. Both are expected to be in attendance this weekend. Ben also attended the season opener.
