Bryan Jones is our Player of the Week

Defensive help is on the way as Ole Miss' two defensive end commits amassed four and half sacks this past week. Who else shined?

DE Markel Winters and Jones CC lost their first football of the season to Co-Linn last night by the score of 22-27. The 6-foot-4, 256-pound defensive end had another sack in the game and two tackles for losses. Through four games Markel has 13 tackles, six and half sacks, six tackles for a loss and a pass deflection. The Floridian is expected to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.




Javien Hamilton and Jones CC lost their first football of the season to Co-Linn last night by the score of 22-27. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback had two tackles and a pass deflection in the game. Through four games the Bay Springs product has seven tackles and two pass deflection. He is expected to to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.



Jay Johnson has been an instant impact player for East Mississippi CC's defense this season. The redshirt freshman collected seven tackles and a sack in the game. Through four games the former Ole Miss signee has 23 tackles, three sacks, and two pass breakups. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is playing middle linebacker this season. The former Bruce native was a Dandy Dozen selection as a senior and signed with Ole Miss before enrolling with East Mississippi CC in the spring of 2015. Jay is expected to graduate in December with 41/2 to play three.




Alex Faniel had 120 passing yards, 50 rushing yards and seven tackles and one pass deflection while starting both ways for his his school. Their starting strong safety was injured so Alex was asked to play both ways. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound signal caller was 647 passing yards and five touchdowns through four games. He also has 178 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Alex is on track to graduate in December with 5 1/2 to play.


D.D. Bowie was our Player of the Week after scoring six touchdowns against Jefferson. This week he moved over to quarterback and finished the game with 170 rushing yards and 53 passing yards. Defensively the Under Armour All-American had two pass breakups while playing cornerback and a blocked field goal. Through five games D.D. has collected 12 tackles, four pass breakups and blocked two field goals. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way player has 12 catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He has rushed the ball 39 times for 748 yards and eight touchdowns. Bowie is expected to be at the Ole Miss/Georgia game.



Josh Clarke had nine tackles, one forced fumble and an interception last Friday. Through three games he now has 29 tackles with three of them coming for a loss, two sacks, a pick and two forced fumbles. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker is expected to be in Oxford for the Georgia game.




Willie Gay helped Starkville to another win and collected eight tackles, picked a pass off and forced a fumble. The Army All-American now has 32 tackles, one interception, two break up passes, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks through four games.





A.J. Harris collected 13 tackles and a pick in the game. Offensively he collected 132 yards of offense. Through four games Harris has over 50 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups. Offensively the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder has over 500 yards from the line of scrimmage.




Bryan Jones is our Player of the Week after recorded 10 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks for Madison Preparatory Academy in Baton Rouge. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end now has 26 tackles and six and half sacks through three games.





Jamar Richardson had another standout game as he caught a pass for a 67 yard touchdown and had a rush for a 39 yard touchdown. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound two-way player for Aliceville (Ala) has four touchdowns and over 450 yards of offense and eight touchdowns through four games. On defense he has collected three interceptions and four pass deflections.




Ben Brown and Lavante Epson continue to start on both the offensive and defensive line. Ben is projected as a guard and Epson as a center on the next level. Both are expected to be in attendance this weekend. Ben also attended the season opener.
