DE Markel Winters and Jones CC beat S'West CC 33-21 last night that pushed their record to 4-1. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end had another sack in the game and two tackles for losses. Through five games Markel has 14 tackles, six and half sacks, six tackles for a loss and a pass deflection. The Floridian is expected to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.




Javien Hamilton had his best game of the season last night against S' West CC. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback had five tackles, forced a fumble, and an interception with a pass deflection in the game. Through five games the Bay Springs product has 12 tackles, one interception, and two pass deflection. He is expected to to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.



Jay Johnson helped East MS CC cruise to a 73-7 win over MS Delta CC last night. The redshirt freshman collected five tackles and a sack in the game. Through five games the former Ole Miss signee has 23 tackles, three sacks, 5.5 tackles for a loss and two pass breakups. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is playing middle linebacker this season. The former Bruce native was a Dandy Dozen selection as a senior and signed with Ole Miss before enrolling with East Mississippi CC in the spring of 2015. Jay is expected to graduate in December with 41/2 to play three.




Alex Faniel was 10-20 for 145 passing yards, four rushes for 55 yards and two touchdowns. On defense he collected seven tackles, three for a loss and had a pass deflection while starting both ways for his his school. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound signal caller was 807 passing yards and six touchdowns through five games. He also has 238 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Alex is on track to graduate in December with 5 1/2 to play.


D.D. Bowie helped Morton to a 55-33 win over Palahatchie last Friday. He put up another monster game while playing quarterback. He was 2-3 for 44 yards with a touchdown in the passing department. Bowie rushed the ball 20 times for 256 yards and five touchdowns and also had a pick six on defense. Through six games D.D. has collected 1,487 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns. He's also returned two punts and three kickoffs for touchdowns. Defensively D.D. has 13 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, four pass deflections, two blocked field goals and a blocked punt.



Josh Clarke had eight tackles, a sack, two pass deflections, and a tackle for a loss last Friday. Through four games he now has 37 tackles with four of them coming for a loss, three sacks, a pick and three forced fumbles.




Willie Gay helped Starkville to another win and collected seven tackles with three of them coming for a loss. The Army All-American now has 39 tackles, one interception, five tackles for a loss, two break up passes, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks through five games.





A.J. Harris collected six tackles and a pass deflection in last Friday's game. Offensively he collected 108 yards of offense. Through five games Harris has 53 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups. Offensively the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder has over 500 yards from the line of scrimmage.




Bryan Jones put up another monster game. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end had seven tackles, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, and two tackles for a loss. He now has 33 tackles and nine and half sacks, and 11 tackles for a loss through four games.





Jamar Richardson had another standout game as he caught a pass for a 47 yard touchdown and had a rush for a 67 yard touchdown. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound two-way player for Aliceville (Ala) has six touchdowns and over 550 yards of offense and ten touchdowns through five games. On defense he has collected four interceptions and four pass deflections.




Ben Brown and Lavante Epson continue to start on both the offensive and defensive line. Ben is projected as a guard and Epson as a center on the next level. Both are expected to be in attendance this weekend. Ben also attended the season opener.
