Regular season coming to an end for most pledges

The regular season comes to an end this week for most of the Ole Miss verbal commits. To find out how they fared last Friday read inside.

DE Markel Winters and Jones CC defeated Gulf Coast CC last Thursday by a score of 28-14 to push their record to 6-3. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end had eight tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 for a loss and ran back a fumble for a 21-yard score. Through nine games Markel now has 25 tackles, 14 sacks, 7.5 tackles for a loss, a defensive touchdown and a pass deflection. The Tallahassee native is now second in the country in sacks and is expected to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.

 

 

 

Javien Hamilton had another solid effort for Jones CC last night. He totaled six tackles, had a pick that was called back by a penalty and forced a fumble in their 28-14 win over MS Gulf Coast CC. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback has 26 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and three pass deflections this season. He is expected to to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2.

 

 

Jay Johnson helped East MS CC to a 42-0 win over Hinds CC to push their record to 8-1. The redshirt freshman collected four tackle in the game while playing defensive end. Through nine games the former Ole Miss signee has 22 tackles, three sacks, 5.5 tackles for a loss and two pass breakups. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder signed with Ole Miss before enrolling with East Mississippi CC in the spring of 2015. Jay is expected to graduate in December with 41/2 to play 3.

 

 

 

Alex Faniel was 12 -15 for 247 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound signal caller has 1,207 passing yards and ten touchdowns through six games of action. He also has 487 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Alex is on track to graduate in December with 5 1/2 to play. Alex is playing in the Hawaii Bowl.

 

D.D. Bowie helped Morton to a 42-0 win over McLaurin for their fifth straight win. Scout's No. 94 overall rated player had five rushes for for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He was 2-2 passing for 42 yards and another touchdowns Bowie is averaging over 14 yards a carry this season with 149 carries for 1, 850 yards and 30 touchdowns. The recently named Army All-American has totaled over 2,300 yards of offense through ten games. In four games of action on defense he has 13 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, four pass deflections, two blocked field goals and a blocked punt.

 

 

Josh Clarke had 14 tackles and a sack last Friday. Riverdale is now 1-8 on the season. Through nine games he now has 108 tackles with six of them coming for a loss, five sacks, a pick and three forced fumbles. Josh has been selected to the International All-Star game.

 

 

 

 

A.J. Harris collected nine tackles in Bob Jones 43-26 win over Buckhorn last Friday to push their record to 7 -3. Through ten games Harris has 74 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups. Offensively the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder has over 700 yards from the line of scrimmage.

 

 

 

 

Jamar Richardson helped Aliceville (Ala) to a 54-29 win over Billingsley to push their record to 9-1. He had five rushes for 43 yards and caught a pass for another 11 yards. He also collected two tackles in limited play on defense. Through eight games of action he now has 31 carries for 369 yards and seven touchdowns. He's also caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. On defense he has collected 10 tackles and a pick in four games of action.

 

 

 

Ben Brown and Lavante Epson continue to start on both the offensive and defensive line. Ben is projected as a guard and Epson as a center on the next level. Both are expected to be in attendance this weekend. Ben also attended the season opener.
