Season comes to a close for a few of the Rebel commitments

The season has come to an end for some of the Rebel recruits. Others are still fighting in the playoffs. To catch up with the progress report for the Ole Miss verbals, read below.

DE Markel Winters nd Jones CC finished their season with a 6-3 record. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end had 35 tackles, 16 sacks, 5.5 tackles for a loss, a defensive touchdown and a pass deflection for the season. The Tallahassee native is now third in the country in sacks and is expected to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2. Markel takes his official visit to Ole Miss on December 12th. He was offered by West Virginia, Auburn and Mississippi State last week.




Javien "Jay" Hamilton helped Jones CC to a 6-3 record this season. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback finished with 27 tackles, three for a loss, one interception, two forced fumbles and two pass deflections this season. He is expected to to graduate in December with 3 1/2 to play 2. Javien will take his official visit to Ole Miss on the December 12th weekend.



Jay Johnson has helped East MS CC to 8-1 record. The redshirt freshman and former Ole Miss signee has 24 tackles, three sacks, five and half tackles for a loss and two pass breakups. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is expected to graduate in December with 41/2 to play 3.



Alex Faniel participated in seven games this fall. He missed three games due to an ankle injury. For the season the 6-foot-4, 240-pound signal caller was 72-119 for 1,475 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also chipped in 407 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 46 attempts. Faniel is on track to graduate in December with 5 1/2 to play. Alex is playing in the Hawaii Bowl.


D.D. Bowie finished the regular season with 2,664 yards and 40 TDs for the Panthers (8-4). On defense he had 21 tackles, 2 blocked field goals and an interception in limited time. The Army All-American will face off against Southeast Lauderdale tonight in the 1st round of the 3A playoffs.



Josh Clarke fnished with 118 tackles, ten for a loss, six sacks, a pick and three forced fumbles for the season. Josh has been selected to the International All-Star game.





A.J. Harris and Bob Jones lost to Hoover in the 1st round of the playoffs last Friday. Harris finished the season with 73 tackles, four interceptions and eight pass breakups. Offensively the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder has over 600 yards from the line of scrimmage. Bob Jones faces Hoover in the first round of the playoffs Friday.





Jamar Richardson and Aliceville defeated Luverne 42-28 last Friday in the 1st round of the playoffs. They square off against Leroy Friday. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound two-way player for Aliceville (Ala) was the star of the game with five rushes for 156 and a touchdown. He also had a pick on defense, a pass deflection and three total tackles. In eight games of action he has 704 yards rushing/8 touchdowns and 13 tackles with 5 pass deflections.




Ben Brown was a two-way starter for St. Aloysius this year. Their season ended last Friday in their 1st round loss to Heritage Aca. The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder started all twelve games at left tackle and defensive tackle. He finished the year with 37 tackles with a sack and fumble recovery.





Lavante Epson has helped Washington School to a 6-5 record. They face Amite (La) tonight in the 1st round of the playoffs. The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder has 31 tackles and two sacks on the season. He starts at both left tackle and defensive tackle.
