Tyrese Fryfogle was selected to play in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game after putting up an All-State performance this season. The experience in Montgomery, Ala,. is one he'll always cherish.
"It was great to be with all of the guys," Fryfogle said. "We had a lot of great players on our team. We came up just short, but it was a very competitive game."
Fryfogle had a great week of practice and caught six passes in the contest. He believes he put himself on the map.
"I just wanted to prove to everyone that I'm one of the top players in Mississippi. I think some of the Coast guys get overlooked by a lot of guys up North because they say we lack competition."
Ole Miss has been the leader for Tyrese since the start of his recruitment. Nothing has changed.
"My dad went there and it's just been around my family the whole time. I've been to a lot of their games. I like how they get the ball to their receivers and play a lot of their young receivers. They like to throw it around a lot."
Ole Miss changed receiver coaches recently. Tyrese is not that worried about it.
"I was talking to coach (Grant) Heard three or four times a week. We kept in touch until he left for Indiana. Now I'm talking to coaches (Hugh) Freeze and (Matt) Luke. We have been keeping in touch. They know how I feel. I love Ole Miss. It's home. I'm just waiting until I'm a 100% sure to make the decision. My mom just told me to be a 100% sure. Sleep on it and make sure I'm a 100% sure."
The Rebels have stopped by Tyrese's house a couple times before the dead period started.
"Coach Heard came by and talked to me and my mom and my dad. Coach Luke also came by when I was in Montgomery to talk to my parents. My family loves the staff up there. They really feel comfortable with their coaches."
A couple more colleges have been in talks with Fryfogle lately.
"I've been talking to Mississippi State and I heard from South Carolina recently. I'm just waiting it out."
What did State say?
"They just said they liked my game. I use to keep in contact with them a lot but things kind of fell off until recently. (MSU WR) coach Gonzales has been texting me and getting in contact with me. He just wants to see what's up."
The decision could come soon.
"I'm ready to get it over with, really. I'm not looking to make a signing day decision or anything like that. I know where I'm going. It will not be long."
