Hottest Prospects

Destin Coates is one that has not been hotly contested yet, but coach Nix has had him at the Ole Miss camp and the Rebels love his game. Destin's junior season saw him carry the ball 165 times for 1,582 yards and 19 touchdowns. There are few prospects who carry his quickness and speed. Coach Nix just happens to have the recruiting territory in the Tallahassee area. He also recruits his position.

Fabian Franklin has been a priority for Ole Miss since his ninth grade season when he broke out for over 1,400 yards rushing. The hard nose runner out of Hattiesburg high continues to get better and better. The All-State selection rushed for over 2,300 yards as a junior. Colleges from coast-to-coast have offered, including every SEC team not named LSU. Interesting enough it looks like Ole Miss and LSU could be the early favorites. The Rebels got their claws in their first, but as you saw with Clinton's Cam Akers, that doesn't always win out in the end. Having said that it certainly helps more times than not.

Harold Joiner is a player that coach Nix has had his eye on since he entered his freshman season. The Birmingham native is a bruiser that comes in at 6-foot-3, 220-pounds. Auburn recently offered. Alabama has not. Ole Miss was the first to offer. Ole Miss running back coach Derrick Nix is from the Birmingham area.

Ole Miss was able to get out ahead of the pack for Asa Martin. The Alabama native attended IMG his sophomore and junior campaigns but has decided to come back home to Decatur, Ala., to finish out his senior season. Will that change the dynamics to his recruitment? The Rebels certainly hope not. Since arriving back in Alabama he's picked up offers from Oregon, Florida, Auburn, and TCU. There is no questioning his skill set. Martin averaged over 10 yards a touch last season while playing for powerhouse IMG. Can Ole Miss hold the fort down?

Charles Strong is another interesting recruitment to follow. On the surface it would appear that Ole Miss is on the outside looking in for the Gainesville, Fla., native that is committed to FSU, but we hear the Rebels have been in consistent communication with the him the past year. FSU can't sign every running back they want, can they?

Tae Provens is an interesting to watch on film. He has a nice blend of speed, power and balance. Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, MSU and Southern Cal have already offered the Madison County, Ala., native. The Rebels have been all over him the past year.
