Brookhaven defensive tackle is turning heads

Jeffery Johnson out of Brookhaven, Miss., is one of the state's top defensive prospects. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle was named a 1st Team All-State selection last season and will be one of the more hotly contested recruits this year.

Scout.com evaluation: Jeffery is a big bodied tackle that extremely strong. This allows him to overpower his opposition on the high school level. He shows strong hands which allows him to shed blocks. Johnson will need to work on his leverage on the next level as he faces stiffer competition. He stands a little high in his stance.

Johnson is what you term a "space eater" that can actually move well for a player his size. His junior season he collected 51 tackles and nine sacks.

Ole Miss, MSU, USM and FSU have all offered. More will be on the way.
