DL Malik enjoys his time in Oxford

Malik Langham out of Huntsville, Ala., spent the day at Ole Miss with his family earlier this month. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound defensive lineman still doesn't have a top list but he has visited quite a few schools this spring.

"My visit to Ole Miss went pretty good being my first recruiting trip on their campus," Langham said. "I came up there for a basketball camp after my freshman season, but this was the first time I got to see everything. I got to watch them practice and see their facilities. Everything was really nice."

When did things start heating up between Malik and Ole Miss?

"When Georgia offered me they offered me like the next day. I started talking to coach (Derrick) Nix and then they hired coach (Freddie) Roach. We talk like everyday now. He wanted me to come check out their campus so I brought my mom, dad and sister over there to check it out."

What were his family's thoughts on the Ole Miss trip?

"They liked it too. They liked getting to watch them practice and getting a chance to meet their coaches. Their coaches are straight forward. They don't sugar coat things."

What did Malik want to find out about the Rebels on the trip?

"I wanted to see their style of play, check out their campus and get a good feeling for their coaches. They try and make you the best player you can be. They run a similar defensive to what we run at out high school. They play real physical. I really like that. I have a great relationship with coach Roach. I talk to him constantly. We just talk about life and football. He's real easy to talk to. I just enjoyed getting to talk to coaches Nix, Roach and Freeze. They are all really down to earth people. I'll definitely come back in the fall to see them play."

Langham doesn't have a top list yet, but he has taken in several unofficial visits this spring.

"I don't have a group of schools that are at the top of my list. I would say that Tennessee, Vandy, Ole Miss and Georgia are coming after me the hardest right now. I've visited Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss and Vandy so far. I plan to visit MSU later on."

What stood out about Tennessee on the trip?

"They have great coaches, like coaches (Brady) Hoke and (Walt) Wells. They talk to me constantly on a daily basis."

The Vandy staff is doing a great job as well at selling their school.

"They also have great coaches. They have the best of both worlds with the academic and football experience."

Georgia is doing a nice job as well.

"Coach (Tray) Scott is a very good coach. I love the way he coaches and mentors the players."

As a junior Langham made 70 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, eight sacks, five pass break-ups and two forced fumbles in just 10 games.
