"My father played with (Ole Miss linebacker) coach (Bradley Dale) Peveto at SMU," Burnette said. "Dad has always had a great relationship with coach Peveto."

The Rebels started putting the full court press on the 6-foot-3, 277-pound offensive lineman shortly after Peveto was hired by Ole Miss.

"A few months ago coach Peveto sent me a letter and said they were really interested in me. He told me how great the program was at Ole Miss, and how much he was enjoying be there. They offered me and every since then I wanted to come down there and visit. When I went up there a few weekends back I loved what I saw."

The Burnette family was able to spend the weekend in Oxford to check out the town, campus and football program.

"We got there Friday and met coach Peveto and looked around everything. I really enjoyed it. I like the feel of Oxford. It's a great small town feeling. The facilities are also incredible."

What did Ian want to find out about Ole Miss during the trip?

"I wanted to find out more about the coaching staff and the tempo of practice. They play a really high tempo offense which I love. Their practices are very physical and fast pace. As far as their staff they are all really down-to-earth guys. They are high energy and do a lot of teaching out there."

What stood out the most about Ole Miss during the trip?

"The people around the community and their staff and players. They are all really nice, very kind. I enjoyed the atmosphere around Oxford. I think that surprised me the most about my trip. I like how real the people and the coaching staff are at Ole Miss and in Oxford. The community is a place where I could really see myself one day. It's just a great college atmosphere around Oxford."

A few programs have offered to date in TCU, SMU, Missouri and Ole Miss to name a few. Ian didn't want to name his top schools but there are a few that stand out.

"I don't want to name anyone right now but there are a couple schools that I'm really looking at hard right now."

The Rebels are recruiting him for either guard or center.

"I can do it all. I'm really good at pulling. I like to really get after it and play physical."

Is there a timeframe on a decision?

"I have not made a timeframe. A decision could come at any time."

Burnette has been a two time All-District performer and has started since his freshman season for Wimberly.
