Brookhaven CB has four that are standing out

Jemaurian Jones out of Brookhaven, Miss., picked up an offer from Florida State on Friday. The Seminoles have been placed in his top four, but it looks like one of the instate schools is showing the 6-foot-0 defensive back the most interest.

"I believe Ole Miss is coming after me the hardest since I'm an instate guy," Jones said. "My other teammate, OL Trace Clopton, is hoping to get an offer from Ole Miss. Jeffery Johnson has an offer from them. All three of us are really close. If they offer Trace we could all three be going together in college. We have always talked about going to school together."

What makes Ole Miss' effort harder than the rest of the schools?

"I talk to coach Freeze every day. Coach (Derrick) Nix recruits this area, but I talk to their whole staff from each position coach down to their player development personnel on their staff. They have already been down here a couple times in recent weeks. I don't know. It just seems like I'm their instate guy they really want at defensive back."

What does Ole Miss like about Scout's No. 102 ranked cornerback?

"They like the way I play defensive back. They said I'm very physical. They think I can get a lot of playing time there and be able to develop me for the next level. They are talking about me playing nickel back or safety."

Four schools seem to be standing out the most right now.

"I have not released my top schools yet, but I would have to say that Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida State and Louisville are coming after me the hardest."

Jones was committed to Mississippi State at one point but opened back up his recruitment.

"They gave me my first opportunity to commit. They said they were only going to take two corners in this class so I jumped on it. They were my first big school in the SEC to offer me. I have a great relationship with their whole staff, but after I committed a lot more schools started coming after me. I thought it was too early to close it down."

Jemaurian visited FSU this spring and came away impressed.

"A lot stands out about FSU. Coach (Jimbo) Fisher talks to me a lot on the phone. We are building a great relationship. I like the way they play to use me. They want me more as an athlete. I can return kickoffs and punts on special teams, and on defense they want me to play me at one of the safety slots or nickel back. I like that."

The Brookhaven star plays cornerback in high school but will most likely move over to safety on the next level.

"All of the schools are talking about me playing one of the safety slots or nickel back. I could slide over to corner on some downs but it's mostly safety."

Louisville has put an emphasis on recruiting the Magnolia state.

"They want me at corner or safety. They don't know yet. They just said they had to have me in their defensive backfield. They think I can get a lot of picks for them in their secondary. They are always keeping tabs with me."

Jemaurian plans to attend camps at FSU and LSU in June while visiting Ole Miss unofficially in the next few weeks. No immediate decision will be made.

"I'm making my commitment on Signing Day. My birthday is New Year's Eve. I plan on narrowing it down to three on my birthday.

Anybody want any odds that those three will be Ole Miss, FSU and MSU?
