"I've gotten a better feel for Ole Miss over the past few months," Gordon said. "I went over there to their camp a couple weeks back and got to work out with coach (Matt) Luke. He keeps you on your toes. I like how he teaches the game and interacts with the players. Their campus is really nice, and they have a really nice academic center. I've liked everything I've seen so far."
The success that Ole Miss has had at putting people in the pros has also caught his attention.
"That's where the Mannings come from. They put a lot of people in the pros like Patrick Willis that have been successful in life.
DeMarcus was hoping to get an offer from Ole Miss, but one has not been extended, yet.
"That's a little disappointing, but I think I really helped myself after their camp. Coach Luke told me to keep working hard. He likes the way I move around out there for a big guy. He just wants to see how I keep developing this season."
One school inside Mississippi has extended an offer.
"Mississippi State is my first and only offer so far. It felt good about it because I worked hard about it. They said I'm dominate on the field and just being me."
The 2019 prospect has been on their campus a few times to get a good feel for their program.
"Their campus has a good atmosphere. I grew up rooting for Mississippi State, so, to get that offer from your dream school feels really good."
The instate schools definitely have his attention right now.
"Ole Miss and MSU are rivals. Everybody shows up for the Egg Bowl. I might commit to Ole Miss or State. You just don't know."
It will be hard to ignore his love that he has had for the Bulldogs in the end.
"It's kind of hard to separate because I grew up wanting State to win that (Egg Bowl) game. They have been in my blood for a long time, but I will admit that I have started liking Ole Miss a lot more since I started getting to know their program over the last few months."
Anybody else in the picture?
"Florida and Michigan have been writing me some. They want to get me over there to their campus and come check things out."
