Grades Are In For All Ole Miss Football Signees

There is good news and bad news on the status of the remaining ineligible Ole Miss signees.

Now for the good news, the Class 5A Player of the Year, Peria Jerry, has enrolled at Hargrave Military Academy and leaves on August 11th.

As we reported earlier, there is a better than 50/50 chance that Jerry will only have to spend one semester at Hargrave, as he already has his needed ACT score and core classes.

If Peria does finish his needed requirements by December, he will resign with the University of Mississippi in the early singing period and will participate in the 2005 Spring practices.

In the meantime, Jerry will also retain his college eligibility and will have 5 years to play 4 with the Univeristy of Mississippi.

Peria was one of the center pieces for the 2004 class, and this is huge news for the future of the Rebels' defensive front.

On a down note, we have learned that it looks like running back signee, Lavarus Giles, is most likely headed to Mississippi Delta CC.

Why would Lavarus spend two years at a junior college when he could go one year to Hargrave and retain his four years of eligibility?

Lavarus and the Ole Miss staff felt that the safest route for Lavarus' future was MS Delta CC. If Giles decided that he was not happy at Hargrave, or he failed to achieve his needed ACT test score by the end of next year, he would be back to square one and would have to enroll at a junior college the following year, ala Covington Wright.

Therefore, Giles will be with his best friend and brother, James Giles, at MS Deltan and also within an hours drive from home.

This was a joint decision by both parties, and both Lavarus and Ole Miss feel this is in Giles' best interest.

Lavarus has been adamant to the Ole Miss staff and to the media that his intentions are to resign with Ole Miss once he has completed his needed requirements.

Final Grade Count
