The following information was revealed during our interview with WEsley Beardain:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 1 3/4" but you can put 6' 2" (laugh). I weigh right at 190, and I run a 4.6 forty."

Where all have you camped at this summer? "I went to Mississippi State. I went to Alabama for their three day camp, but I did not get there until the last day. I went to Ole Miss' senior and passing camps. And I also went to a Southern Mississippi camp."

Will you be attending anymore camps? "I do not have any plans too."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Quarterback."

What do you consider to be your strengths on the field? "My arm strength is definitely my main strength. I am not real fast, but I feel I can get away from the pass rush. Accuracy, I can put it where I want it. And my body strength is good."

What are you trying to work on to take your game to the next level? "I am trying to get faster. I want to gain more knowledge of the game. Being able to read defenses better is a big goal of mine this year."

How long have you been starting for Winona (MS)?
"At QB, I started in 10th and 11th grade. This will be my third year. I started at safety my freshman season."

Are any schools taking a look at you for safety?
"No sir, strictly quarterback."

What were your stats for the 2003 campaign?
"I was 140 - 220 for over 2,400 yards and 28 TD's."

Which awards did you garner for your play? "I was named District 2(3A) and Region Player of the Year. I was also 1st Team All-State, and all of that stuff."

Which schools are currently recruiting you?
"I am getting letters from pretty much everybody, but as far as getting recruited to where I would like to go, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Marshall. Well, hold on, if you are going to put them in order. Ole Miss, Marshall, and Alabama. I would put them in order, but I have an offer from Marshall. Ole Miss is where I would like to go, but they have not offered me. It is kind of up in the air as to my number one school, but those three are my top schools. Those are the main ones in the picture right now."

Any additional scholarship offers?
"No sir, just Marshall."

Who all called you during the month of May? "Marshall, Ole Miss, Alabama, Memphis, Southern Mississippi, and I think that is about it. Oh yea, Mississippi State called too."

Who called first?
"Alabama called first."

Which coach has made the biggest impact with you?
"Coach McHale from Marshall. He is the one that came down last September to watch some defensive lineman. He noticed me and Lamarcus Russell. Lamarcus is also being heavily recruited
. Coach McHale talked to Coach Chandler (Winona) in our weight room. He gave me a call in May and offered. Coach McHale asked us to come over there this summer to take a look at everything. Our family went last week. I really got to know him during the visit. He made me feel at home while I was up there. I am sure he does that with everyone, but he is the only coach that has done that with me. He has done the best job of recruiting me."

What all do you like about Ole Miss? "It is just so close to home, for one. Marshall was a 10 1/2 drive, and Oxford is an hour. They are also an SEC school. I have a'ways dreamed of playing in the SEC since I was a kid. Their camp that I went to, everybody seemed like a big family. I guess you can say they have a lot of love (laugh). I liked their new field too. I thought it was neat. They are building a new indoor facility, and it is going to be one of the best in the nation. I also like their offense. I do not know if they are going to pass as much with Michael Spurlock, but Coach Cutcliffe knows how to adjust to his personnel. Coach Roper, their quarterback coach, I like him too. He is a cool fellow. And Coach Hopson, the guy that is recruiting me, he has made a big impact with me. Coach Cutcliffe, I got a chance to talk to him at the camp. He seemed like a real laid back coach. All in all, I like their staff."

What are Alabama's positives? "They already have an indoor built, and it was super nice. They are building new facilities like Ole Miss. I also like Coach Woods. He is a cool guy. And Coach Raider, their QB coach, I could tell he was a good coach just by being around him at the camp. I met Coach Shula too. He impressed me as well."

What attracts you to Marshall? "First of all, the offense they run. That is the type of offense that I have always dreamed of playing in, just running the show. That is what their quarterbacks do. They do it all. They also throw the ball around 80% of the time. That is the kind of offense I want to play in. Coach McHale, he has definitely made a great impression with me. I just enjoy being around him."

What will be some factors for you when you are trying to find the right school for you? "Like I said, I want an offense to be pro style where they pass the ball a lot. Just give me a chance to make the decisions, audibles, and everything. I want a good education, but all three of those schools are great academic institutions. And lastly, playing time, I want to start at least three years. I do not mind redshirting and waiting my turn, but I do not want to wait for three to four years before I get a chance."

Wesley carries a 3.4 GPA and an 18 on his ACT test.
