Calvin receives offers from LSU, Florida, and UM

One of the top 2005 offensive line prospects was in town for Ole Miss' Junior Day. We called to see how his visit went.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Mr. Wilson:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 6", 338, and the last time I ran it, I did it in a 5.0 flat."

Where did you run that 5.0 flat? "At LSU's camp last summer."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Offensive tackle."

What are your strengths on the field? "My good feet for my size."

What do you need to work on for the next level? "My conditioning, really. I need to get some more running in and try to get a little stronger."

How long have you been starting for Hattiesburg? "Pretty much all of my life."

Varsity ball? "Ever since my 9th grade year."

Which positions have you played during that time span? "In 9th grade, I played nose guard. In 10th grade, I played nose guard and offensive tackle. Last year, I played defensive tackle and offensive tackle."

What was Hattiesburg's record last year? "We were 5 - 6. We made it to the first round but lost to Gulfport."

Do you remember your personal stats? "No sir, I sure don't. Coach has them at school though."

Any awards come your way? "I was the Defensive Linemen of the Year in Hattiesburg, and I was a 1st Team All-Area pick."

Which schools are currently writing you the most? "I would say Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida. Those three pretty much send me something every week."

Any offers? "No sir."

Which schools have caught your eye? "LSU has."

Anymore? "Maybe Florida and Ole Miss a little."

Have you had a chance to visit any of the schools that you are interested in? "I went to Ole Miss last weekend and LSU today. I am suppose to go to Alabama next weekend."

How did your Ole Miss trip go? "It was real nice. I liked it up there. I liked the coaches. It was pretty nice."

Did anyone accompany you? "My mom and sister."

How did they like it? "They said they liked it. They are building a new field house. They liked that the most."

Was this your first trip to Ole Miss? "Yes sir."

What new did you learn about Ole Miss that maybe you did not know from before? "I pretty much knew just about everything before. I did not learn anything new."

What stood out during your trip? "Just the coaches. They really made me feel like I was at home."

How did your LSU trip? "I liked it down there a lot. I liked the campus. I talked to their offensive line coach, Coach Muschamp and Coach Saban. I enjoyed meeting them."

What new did you learn about LSU? "How good of an academic school they are. I think their team GPA is like a 2.58."

Did anyone accompany you on your trip? "My mom and sister."

How did they like it? "They liked it. They have always liked LSU."

What stood out the most during your trip? "The academic center they built down there."

Did you see some of the same high school players at LSU as you saw at Ole Miss? "The only person I saw at both schools was Jeremy Bibbs."

Did you know Jeremy before these visits took place? "Yes sir. We have competed against each other in both football and basketball for a while now. He is a good player."

You play basketball? "Yes sir. I have been playing all of my life."

What do you currently average? "Around 10 points and 5 rebounds."

Who else from Mississippi did you see at LSU's Jr Day? "There were three more from Mississippi. They were all from (Jackson) Lanier."

Were there any differences in the two schools that you visited for Jr Day? "LSU is way bigger than Ole Miss, like the size of their campus and facilities."

Anything else pop up in your mind? "Not really, although I did like how the coaches at Ole Miss made you feel so at home."

What will be the factors you will look at when it comes decision time? "Probably academic things."

Like what? "You know, what kind of facilities they have. What kind of graduation rates they have."

Who does Hattiesburg play in their Jamboree game this Spring? "We play South Panola at Provine. There are a bunch of us playing in their jamboree."

You know the date of the event? "I really do not. My mind has been on basketball lately. We are in the middle of the hunt."

Calvin carries a 2.5 GPA and an 18 on his ACT test.
