The following information
was revealed during our interview with Mr. Sanford:
What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 3", 190 and I ran a 4.5 at Ole Miss' camp last summer. I have not been timed since."
Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Wide receiver."
What are your strengths on the field? "Really, I say my size and quickness off of the ball. My height and stuff."
What are you trying to work on to take your game to the next level? "I say probably work harder and do better."
How long have you been starting for South Panola? "This was really my first year because I had to sit out last year because of an injury."
What were your stats for the year? "I had, let me think back, I think 11 TD's and something like 500 and something yards. Something like that. I know I had more TD's and receiving yards than anybody else at wide receiver."
Did you garner any awards? "I know I got three plaques, but I do not know what they were called."
Which schools are currently recruiting you the hardest? "Ole Miss sends me mail every week."
Which schools have caught your eye? "I really want to go somewhere like Tennessee or Georgia. Ole Miss is OK."
Have you received any early
offers? "No, not yet."
Have you had a chance to take some Spring visits? "Just Ole Miss with some of my teammates."
How did it go? "It was really good. They were talking some good stuff. They showed us around and we watched some film. It was straight. It is all right up there."
Was this your first visit
to Ole Miss? "It was the first time I have really toured the school. I
have gone to some games and camps, but we always hung out in the Grove."
What new did you learn about Ole Miss that you might not have known from before? "Well, one of their coaches told me I have a good chance to play over there in my first year. I did not know that. I thought I would have to sit out a year."
What stood out about Ole Miss during your trip? "Well really, it is fun over there. I know a lot of their players because I competed against them when they were in high school. And some of my teammates are going over there next year, so it would be pretty cool to play with them again."
What will you look for when you are trying to find the right school for you? "I will look at what they have to offer. That is basically it."
What are your personal goals for the upcoming season? "My first goal is to get through the season without getting hurt. Then I want us to make it back to the championship game and win it again. That is really it."
