What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 0 1/2", 228 and I run a 4.56 forty."
Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "No one has really told me for sure, but I hope it is at tailback."
What other positions are being discussed? "Linebacker and fullback."
What is your pecking order, as far as the position you would like to most play to least play? "Definitely tailback, and then I would say linebacker then fullback, but I will go where ever they need for me to go. I just want to be out on the field contributing."
What makes you a good football player? "I guess from listening to the coaches, keeping myself in shape, and doing what I am told to do."
What are your strengths on the field? "In high school, I am a lot bigger than most of the people I play against. And for my size, my speed is pretty good."
What are you trying to work on to take your game to the next level? "Well, I go running in the mornings, and I lift at night. I run a lot on my own to try and improve on my speed. That is the only thing I am not happy with right now."
How long have you been starting for Lafayette County? "I did not start my 9th grade year, but I played a lot."
Have you been playing solely running back? "Actually, I have been starting at linebacker longer than tailback. Last year, I started both ways, and I did kicker and punter too. All of that."
What were your personal stats for the 2003 season? "I rushed the ball 36 times for 712 yards and 9 TD's. I had over a 100 tackles on defense, but I do not know my exact stats."
Which awards did you garner for your play in the 2003 season? "I made the Channel 12 All-Star Team at LB, but that was the only award I got on defense. On offense, I was our MVP, and I made All-Region 11 Class 4A."
Which schools have you camped at this summer? "I have only been to Ole Miss' and Auburn's senior camps. I was suppose to go to MSU's and Bama's (camps), but I had a death in the family. I am going to LSU's one day camp on July 25th though."
Which schools are actively recruiting you? "Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, MSU, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, and Marshall."
Any offers yet? "Not just yet."
Who would you say is recruiting you the hardest? "Definitely Ole Miss."
Which coaches contacted you during the May evaluation period? "The coaches from Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, and MSU."
Who called first? "Coach Roper."
Which coach have you developed the tightest bond with? "Coach Roper. He watches out for me, making sure I stay off of the streets, and most importantly, he keeps on me about my grades."
What is your grade status? "I have a "C" average. I think it was a 2.0 the last time I checked."
Are you taking the necessary courses to enter the college level? "My councilor has been making sure I am taking the right courses so I can be eligible, yes sir."
Which schools are you keeping a close eye on? "Ole Miss."
Anyone else? "Maybe Auburn."
What all do you like about Ole Miss? "Well, I mean, it is in my backyard. I know my way around here, and I know all of their coaches in a lot of sports."
Which Ole Miss coaches do you know? "I am real close with Coaches Nunn and Cutcliffe. Those are about the only three that I know real well. I know a lot of their other coaches, but not like those three."
What do you like about Auburn? "They have a real good tradition, and their recruiter is real nice too."
What will be the factors when you are trying to find the best school for you? "Well, I would like to play tailback, first of all. And if I do get to play tailback, I will look at their depth chart. I would also like to stay close to home."
Eric carries a 2.0 GPA.
