LSU on verge of offering top lineman from MS...
What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 5, and a little over 280 now, as I have put on a little weight since the beginning of the (2003) season. I run a little under a 5.2, like a 5.15 forty."
Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Offensive tackle."
What are your strengths on the football field? "My size, especially in my division, is a big plus. I feel like I am a pretty smart player, and they tell me that I am pretty quick off the line of scrimmage."
What do you need to work on for the next level? "I am mainly working on my speed and quickness. The coaches from Ole Miss tell me that it is good to have strength coming in, but they know you will get stronger when they get you into their strength program. They just told me that they wanted me to report in good shape and to keep working on my quickness and speed."
Which player do you try to pattern your game after? "I have always been an Ole Miss fan, so I have always looked up to Todd Wade."
Did you attend any football camps last summer? "No sir, but I plan on going to Ole Miss' this summer. Other than that, I have not made a decision on which ones I will go to and not go to."
How long have you been starting for Jackson Academy? "I did not start my sophomore year, but I grew a lot between my sophomore and junior season. Last year, I took over the starter's role."
Which position do you play for JA? "Right tackle."
Is that the position you project at on the next level? "Yes sir, I would imagine so."
Tell us about JA's season last year? "I believe we were 11 - 1, and we won the 3A championship."
Did your coaches keep up with your stats? "We do not do that, not nearly as much as the colleges do. I talked to David (Traxler) about that. He said they (colleges) score each game, but we do not do that."
Did you receive any awards for your play last season? "I was selected as a 1st Team All-Metro pick (Clarion Ledger), and I was the ESP's Lineman of the Week twice."
Which schools are currently writing you? "Lets see, LSU, MSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida, West Virginia, Vandy, and Notre Dame. There are probably some more, but I can not think of them right now."
Have you received any early offers? "Yes sir, Ole Miss offered me."
When did Ole Miss offer you? "They offered, lets see, I think it must have been a month of two before Christmas. It was during the season, I know that."
Which schools are showing you the most attention? "Probably LSU and Ole Miss."
What has LSU done to make you feel wanted? "I receive the most mail from them and Ole Miss. I think Coach Muschamp is a nice guy. He came to one of our Spring practices. I went to the LSU/Florida game, and their coaches showed me a lot of attention."
What is Ole Miss doing to make you feel wanted? "Like LSU, they are sending me the most letters. I also receive personal hand written letters from their offensive line coach. Coach Cutcliffe and I have a good relationship. I go to a lot of their games, and I have gone in their locker and weight rooms."
Which schools, so far, have caught your eye? "I really like LSU and Ole Miss. When I went to the LSU game, they had a great atmosphere, same as Ole Miss'. I really like both of them. Those are my two main schools."
Did you grow up a fan of any one school? "Ole Miss. Both of my parents went there. I have been going to their games forever. That is who I have always rooted for."
Are you going to attend any Junior Days this Spring? "I am going to Ole Miss this weekend. I am planning on going to LSU's on the (February) 28th."
What will be the main factors in your decision? "I will look at their athletic program, coaches, and atmosphere of the school itself."
