The following information was revealed during our interview with Mr. Russell:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 3", 180, and the last time I ran the 40, I ran a 4.5. That was at the Ole Miss camp."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "When I go to college, it will most likely be wide receiver."

What makes you a good football player? "I just do whatever it takes to get the win. That is all."

What are your strengths at wide receiver? "If the ball is in the air, I feel like it is mine. I use my height and jumping ability to my advantage."

Where all have you camped at this summer? "I went to the Nike camp in Baton Rouge. I also went to Ole Miss' senior and passing camps."

Do you have anymore camps scheduled this summer? "Not really, but if something becomes available, I will probably go."

What are you trying to work on to take your game to the next level? "My speed, just my speed."

How long have you been starting for Winona? "Since my freshman year. I starting playing safety."

When did you start playing wide receiver? "I guess it was my sophomore year."

Have you been starting both ways since your 10th grade season? "Both ways, yes sir."

What were your stats from your junior season? "I had 50 something catches for 700 and something yards and 8 TD's. On defense, I had 50 something tackles and 12 interceptions. I brought back 3 for TD's."

Did you lead the state in interceptions? "No, some kid from the south (Mississippi) beat me. He had 13. But, I tied the state record for interceptions in a game. I got five in (picks) against Independence."

Did you garner any awards for your play? "Yes sir, in football I got Super 24 and 1st Team All-District. That is all that I know off of the top of my head."

Which schools are the most interested in you right now? "Right now, Ole Miss, they send the most letters. I also get a lot of stuff from Memphis and USM."

Which schools contacted you by phone during the May evaluation period? "I got one from Ole Miss, Memphis, and USM. Jackson State and a coach from Alcorn State called too. Those are the ones I remember."

Who called first? "Coach Jay Hopson at Ole Miss."

Which coach have you developed the tightest bond with? "Coach Hopson. I like him. He is easy to talk to. I just call him up and talk to him at anytime. No problem."

Did any schools come and evaluate you during the May evaluation period? "Yes sir, a Memphis coach came and talked to my head coach. Some coach from MSU came too. And coaches from Arkansas and Tennessee came to see me practice too. That is all that I know of for sure."

Which schools have caught your eye up to this point? "If I had to choose a school it would be somebody out of the SEC."

Which ones? "I like Ole Miss. Ole Miss and Georgia, and I like Alabama too. I have not heard anything from Florida or LSU, but I like them a lot too."

What attracts you to Ole Miss? "They are close to home, first of all. So, you know, it would be nothing for my friends and mykins to come and see me play. And I like all of them new facilities they are building. I also like their staff a lot. It seems like they are easy to get that one on one attention from."

What about Georgia? "I have not been there, so. Ole Miss is really the only school I have ever visited, and gotten to know their staff."

What about Alabama? "Not much, I just like most all of the schools in the SEC."

Did you grow up a fan of any one school? "I actually grew up rooting for Miami. Them were my boys."

What are going to be the factors when it comes decision time? "It would have to be a football team that throws the ball a lot. And probably climate, I do not want to go to a school that has cold weather. Me and cold air do not get along too well (laugh)."

LaMarcus carries a 85 GPA and a 15 on his ACT test.
