Corey sets his sights on immediate playing time
What was your height and weight when you reported to Ole Miss? "I do not even remember. I lost a little weight, so I only checked in at 251. I do remember my weight, but I do not remember my height."
Where are you, strength wise, from the end of your high school career to where you are now? "I mean maybe a little bit stronger, but not by much. We came in to relearn how to lift weights. They did not emphasis on lifting hard. They were more worried about the proper techniques, so when we do start lifting hard, we will not hurt ourselves. I really do not know how much stronger I am now because I have not tested myself."
Did you set any personal goals, as far as where you want to be strength wise, by the end of your freshman year? "I mean, yea, I have some personal goals of my own. By the end of the year, I would like to benching over 400 and squatting over 500 (pounds). I definitely want to improve my vertical and broad jump. I do not have any set numbers, but I want to become more explosive."
What most are you going to have to work on to succeed on the SEC level? "I have no idea because we have not even practiced yet, but I figure speed and strength are going to be the main two things."
Have you set any personal goals this year, as far as playing time, stats, or awards? "I do not know about honors or anything, but I definitely want to play this year. I have a lot of good athletes ahead of me, so it is going to be hard. I just have to make sure that I catch their eyes in the limited time we have before the season starts."
What are your team goals? "I would like to win the SEC. That would be nice."
Which game do you most look forward to this year? "It is probably either Memphis or Tennessee. That should be a lot of fun."
Any current players at CBHS that are SEC material? "Chris Mosby is going be a great one. He will be a junior next year. He is about 6' 3", 230. Trip plays linebacker."
How is CBHS going to be this year? "I always expect them to be competitive. We have a great coach up there. I do not know what to expect out of them this year, record wide, because our scheduled is so hard. But, they will be very competitive"
When did you report to Ole Miss? "I came here in July."
Did you take any classes? "No sir, I just worked out with the team."
What did you notice during the time you spent conditioning with the current players? "The speed was not that big of difference, it was just the size. I am use to being a lot bigger than everyone else. Now, I am just average, as far as my size."
Anything you want to tell all of the Ole Miss fans out there? "Well, man, that is tough (laugh). Lets see, just tell them that I am going to give it my all, and I hope to leave here with an SEC championship. That is what we all play for."
