National Juco Player of the Year ready to rumble.

Larry Kendrick (DB, Haines City, FL) - As Larry was preparing to leave for Oxford (MS), Kendrick's mother called to inform that he was named the National Junior College Player of the Year.

Just another award in the bucket for the 2003 All-American on both sides of the ball. Honors and stats do not mean much for the former Florida/Pearl River CC standout. The only thing that matters to Kendrick is helping his team win games, and that is exactly what he plans on doing at Ole Miss.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Mr. Kendrick:

What did you report in at, height and weight? "5' 11", 214."

What are you maxing out at these days? "I have not maxed out since I have been here. I just do a lot of reps. I do 225 fifteen times. That is usually what I work out with."

What did it feel like to be named the National Juco Player of the Year? "I mean it felt great. It was very unexpected. I was only there for a year, but it felt good in the end, when I found out about it."

What are some of your personal goals for the upcoming season? "I mean, just have fun playing, and try to help us win games. I am all about winning. That is about the only thing that matters to me."

Have you set any goals, as far as stats or playing time? "No, none at all. Really, as long as we get to the SEC Championship game, I could care less about my playing time or stats. I just want to help us win in any way that I can."

Has the Ole Miss staff discussed a specific position with you yet? "Not really, I guess that will be determined as practice goes on. My main duties will be at defensive back, and when I get the system down, they will let play some wide receiver. We will just have to wait and see what happens."

How does it feel to be around a new group of teammates, since you have been through this before? "It feels good to be around people who have a winning attitude. It is like a fresh start for me again."

Does it make it more exciting when you come into a new program? "Yes sir, it makes it more exciting. It is interesting to see how the new people react to you and how you react to them. So far, I could not ask for a better group of people to be around. I have finally found my niche. I just wish I would have come here in the first place (laugh)."

Did Ole Miss recruit you out of high school? "They sure did. I really thought about them a lot then, but Florida was just so close to home, so I thought it would be best for me. I am glad I finally made my way over here though."

What are some team goals you have set? "To go out and do whatever I can to contribute to the team and take it one game at a time."

Who are some guys at Pear River CC that we need to keep our eye on? "Man, the whole team. Everybody knows about Larry Brackins, but our team has a lot more than that. Everybody that is coming back at wide receiver, running back, and linebacker. They are all for real."
