Zach Schreiber's scholarship total up to seven
The following information was revealed during our interview with Zach Schreiber:
What is your currently height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 2", 220, and I run about a 4.65 forty."
What are your strengths on the field? "Definitely my speed. Just using my quickness while rushing the passer. That is my main thing. I also prepare well. We study a lot of film at Evangel Christian. I know a lot of high schools who do not, but I take it pretty seriously."
What are you trying to work on? "This is my first season to play linebacker, so I need to learn more about the position."
Which position are you being recruited to play? "Both, DE and OLB."
Prefer one over the other? "DE."
How long have you been starting at Evangel? "This is my fourth year."
What were your stats as a junior? "I had 75 tackles (28 for losses), 14 sacks, and 1 interception. I recovered a few fumbles, but I do not know a total."
Any awards? "I got All-State, City, and District, 1st Team."
How is your season going this year? "We are 1 - 1. We should be 2 - 0, so that is not good. We can turn our season and go 13 - 1 and win the state. You never know. I think I have something like 14 tackles and 2 sacks so far."
Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now? "Probably Alabama is up there. Texas Tech is up there too. Oklahoma State is pretty interested. San Diego State has been calling a lot too. Probably them, those seem to be the most interested."
Any offers? "Yes sir, those four have offered. Memphis, ULM, and Tulsa have offered too."
This month, have any schools called you that you did not list above? "Actually, I just moved out of my house, and they have to call the school, so I have to find out from my coach."
Which schools are you keeping a close eye on? "Definitely Alabama, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and San Diego State. I will probably visit all of those schools. LSU and Ole Miss are still in there too."
Has Ole Miss called you? "Yea, I have talked to them on the phone a few times."
Do you plan to attend any college games this fall? "Yea, but I have to look at my schedule. We play a lot of Saturday games, so it is hard."
Tell us what you like about Alabama? "They are from the SEC, just their tradition is better than any program. They want me to come in as a pass rusher, and that is what I want to do. I really like them a lot."
What are Texas Tech's positives? "They have signed a few of our players from school. They all went there and started as either freshmen and sophomores. That is a big plus for me. Playing early is really important for me. They are in the Big 12, and their program is coming around."
What about Oklahoma State? "They are a good program and a good school. Their coaches are friends with my coaches. My coaches are telling me that they will take care of me, and it would be a good fit if I went there."
And San Diego State? "It is in San Diego (laugh). wI would be crazy if I at least did not check them out. They also have a lot of players in the NFL, and I want to get the league. I will probably go visit over there and just see how I fit in with them."
What will be the main factors in your decision? "Number one is playing time. Then I will see how well I like their campus, and how well I fit in with their coaches and players."
Zach carries a 4.0 GPA and a 24 on his ACT.
