Question and Answers

How many players is Ole Miss going to sign in the Early Signing Period?

We hear that the Rebels will use six scholarships in the fall, unless they can find the right player, and then they would take seven.. There are seven current public commitments for Ole Miss.

They are Bobby Clark (SG), Trey Hampton (SF), Clarence Sanders (SG), Carl Swanigan (C), Jarvis Walker (Wing), Xavier Webb (Wing), and Marquis Young (C).

Remember that one of these commitments is going to be placed at a prep school next year, so the Rebels are only looking at using 6 scholarships for the seven players who are committed.

Which prospects are still being recruited by Ole Miss?

The two prospects who are being looked at the hardest right now are Lawrence Kinnard out of Memphis (TN) and Nikola Stevanovic out of Laurinburg Aca (NC).

The biggest target right now is Lawrence Kinnard. Lawrence is a 6' 7", 190 pound wing prospect who preps at Raleigh Egypt. He is noted as one of the top prospects throughout the South.

Kinnard has taken official visits with Florida State and UAB and is scheduled to visit Auburn on October 13th. Ole Miss had set up an official date with Lawrence for the weekend before his visit to Auburn, but the ACT test is being given on the same date. Look for Kinnard to take an official visit with Ole Miss in late October.

Nikola Stevanovic is a sergian who just recently popped up on the Rebel's radar screen. In fact, he just enrolled at traditionally rich, Lauringurg Aca (NC), this week. Nikola is a 6' 7" pure shooter who can handle the ball extremely well. Coach White went to evaluate Stevanovic this week, and we hear that Nikola put on a show.

Where do the seven commitments stand with Ole Miss? Are they "hard" or "soft" commitments?

Oh, the proverbial word, commitment. Rebel fans know all too well from the past that commitments are "none binding", ala Keith Langford (ouch)!

The good news for Ole Miss is that all seven of their public commitments are as firm as a commitment can be. For what ever that is worth:)

Trey Hampton took his official visit with Ole Miss last weekend and brought his parents with him. We hear that the visit went extremely well. The Hamptons were very impressed with the Ole Miss staff and Trey will not be taking anymore official visits.

Coach Barnes visited Xavier Webb on Tuesday and had a great meeting with Xavier and his parents. Webb has decided to not take anymore official visits.

Coach White visited Clarence Sanders on Wednesday. As reported earlier, Clarence canceled his Arkansas official visit two weeks ago and has since canceled his Auburn visit. Sanders is now a solid commitment.

Coach Barnes also visited Bobby Clark this week. Clark has told the Ole Miss family that he will resign with Ole Miss in the Fall and that he was working on a few of his buddies. Bobby is a strong commitment of Ole Miss' and will not take anymore official visits.

We were told that Bobby Clark decided to enroll at Central Park Aca, instead of South Kent (Conn) Central Park is a prep school that is located in Birmingham, AL.

Central Park was also the the school that current Ole Miss commitment, Carl Swanigan, enrolled at last summer. But due to personal reasons, Carl has since transfered back home to a prep school located in Utah. Last season, Carl was Utah's Class 5A Player of the Year.
