Hobson is still wide open

Tony Hobson (QB, Jackson, MS) - Jim Hill has gotten off to a disappointing start, 2 - 3, but the play of their signal caller continues to shine.

Recruiters from Ole Miss, West Virginia, LSU, Auburn, Memphis, Mississippi State, and Louisiana Tech have all taken notice as they continue to keep in weekly contact (phone) with the 2003 All-State (4A) selection.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Tony Hobson:

Tell us about your season, how is it going? "We are 2 - 3 right now. We are playing all right. We just are not clicking yet. We have a young (offensive) line. As soon as they get a little more experience, we should be primed to make a run."

What areas in your game have improvement the most? "I think my decision making has gotten a little bit better. My leadership skills have always been good, but I have really made it a point to not only lead by example, but to be a little more vocal out there."

What are your stats for the season? "I am really not sure. I will check up on that and call you back."

Have you won any weekly awards? "Yes sir, I have been in the "top performers" (Clarion Ledger). I have been in that for four different games."

Have you received any phone calls this month? "Yes sir, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Memphis, LSU, Auburn, La Tech, and MSU call every week. There are some more who have called but those schools are the most consistent."

Any offers? "Still just Jackson State, as of right now."

What do you think they are waiting on? "I do not really know. I feel like Ole Miss is still recruiting me hard. Memphis and LSU too. I feel like they are going to offer, but I can not comment on that right now."

Which schools are you keeping a close eye on? "I would have to say Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, Jackson State, Memphis, and La Tech. All of them. MSU too."

Which school, do you feel, wants you the most? "Right now, I think Ole Miss is recruiting me the hardest out of all of them. Ole Miss and LSU."

Have you had a chance to attend any college games this fall, and do you have anymore visits lined up? "I went to the Ole Miss/Memphis game. I went to the MSU/Auburn game. I plan on going to a few more this year. I will probably go back to Ole Miss when they play Auburn, and I think I am going to go check Memphis as well."

What is your academic status? "I have a 3.3 Core GPA, and I made an 18 on the ACT test last year."
