The following information was revealed during our interview with Owen Reid:


What is your current height and weight? "I am 5' 10", 185."

Which position do you currently play? "I pitch."

Which high school do you attend? "Moberly Spartans."

How long have you been starting for Moberly? "I have been our team's ace since my freshman year."

Which AAU Team do you play for? "I play for the MidWest Prospects out of St. Louis."

Friends with Evan Button? "Yes, he is a good friend of mine."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Pitcher."

Which side do you throw and bat from? "I throw from the right side."

Did you attend any showcase tournaments this summer? "No sir, I was working, but I will be going to the Perfect Games event in Ft. Meyers (FL) on the weekend of October 23rd."

What does your fast ball top out at? "94 MPH.."

What does your fast ball average out at? "I would say around 90 - 92 mph. My curveball averages 78 and my change up averages 74 mph."

What is your out pitch? "My change up."

What are your strengths on the mound? "Well, my competitiveness and my ability to make the big pitch. This is off the field, but my work ethic too."

What are you working on? "I am trying to work on my breaking ball. I need to throw it for strikes more consistently."

What were your stats as a junior? "I went 3 - 4 with a 1.07 ERA. I pitched in 33 innings. I struck out 76 batters, allowed 12 hits on the year and 5 earned runs. I only had one extra base hit against me for the year. Batters hit .101 for the season."

Which schools are in the running for your service? "I would say Baylor, Wichita State, TCU, Wake Forrest, East Carolina, and Ole Miss."

Which schools have you lined up an official visit with? "I went to TCU (9/11), Wake Forrest (9/18), Baylor )10/9), and I am going to Ole Miss (10/15) this weekend."

What attracts you to Ole Miss? "Obviously they are very interested in me. They are always ranked high every year. They win a lot of games, and they play in the best conference in America."

Which visit felt the most at home so far? "I enjoyed all of my visits equally. I will take my last two visits and make a decision shortly after that."

What is your academic status? "I have a 4.0 GPA and a 21 on the ACT.
