Sims has been the driving force behind West Jones' defense for the past four seasons, but this year, he is also their star tailback. In fact, Archie has made more of an impact at running back (1,038 yards and 10 TD's) than linebacker (62 tackles). But make no mistake, college recruiters still project Archie at linebacker on the next level.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Archie Sims:

What is West Jones' current record? " We are 8 - 0. Well, we are still good, but our offense is not the same as last year. We are not as good on that side of the ball, but our defense, I think it is a little bit better. I think we can go pretty far. We play our big rivals, Waynesboro, this Friday."

Talk about that game. "Well, we just are going to treat it like any other game. We know it can not hurt us. We do not want to lose, do not get me wrong, but it is not going to effect our playoff status. We are in. The game is being moved to Jones CC. They are expecting over 10,000 people at the game. I think we can do it. We are better than they are. They beat us the last two years on the last play of the game. It is our time."

Where have you seen the most improvement in your game this season? "Well, defensively, I am playing alright, but I am not standing out too much. I have scored 10 TD's at RB, but I will be playing defense in college."

Which colleges have an offer on the table for you? "Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USM, Memphis, Auburn, and West Virginia."

Which schools have contacted you be phone in the last week? "Pretty much all of them."

Who do you feel like is recruiting you the hardest? "I would say Ole Miss, MSU, Memphis, and USM. They are probably recruiting me the hardest and Auburn too."

Are those five colleges pretty much your top schools? "Yes sir."

Are you leaning in any one direction? "No sir, not really."

The last time we spoke, you had MSU and Ole Miss out in front; has that changed? "I think it is kind of wide open right now. After the season, I could probably tell you more, but right now, I do not worry about all of that stuff."

Have you attended any college games this fall? "Yes, I went to the USM/Houston, MSU/Tulane, MSU/Auburn, and I just got back from the Ole Miss/Tennessee game."

Out of the four games you have attended this fall; which game had the best atmosphere? "Probably this past game (UM/TN) was the most exciting college game I have ever been too. The USM/Houston was intense too."

How did your visit to Ole Miss go? "Oh, I loved it. That new facility is nice. Everything was top of the line. Their atmosphere, coaches, fans, just everything was top of the line."

Did anyone accompany you on your visit to Oxford? "A couple of my teammates came with me."

Did you leave the game feeling like you could make an immediate impact at Ole Miss? "I did. They need some help at linebacker."

Talk about the positives of each school that you are interested in. "At Ole Miss, I like their facilities a lot. I also like all of their coaches. They are pretty cool. Mississippi State, I like all of their coaches. They are cool. Their facilities are alright too. And USM, their facilities are alright too. I do not feel like I could lose with any of those three schools. The rest of them, their coaches seem alright, but I do not know much else about their schools."

Have you set up any official visits? "I go to Auburn on January 14th and 15th. I am in the middle of setting up my visits with MSU, Ole Miss, USM, and probably West Virginia."

Are you going to attend anymore football games this fall? "Not that I know of. I was going to go to the MSU/Florida game, but I have to take the ACT test on the same day."

Where do you stand academically? "I still have not checked on my GPA, but I think I need a 17 or an 18, or something like that, on the ACT test. I made a 16 the first time, and I am retaking the test this Saturday."
