Powe was scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Ole Miss this weekend but came down with the flu. We called to verify the news.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Jerrell Powe:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 3", 335, and I run a 4.9 forty."

What is your current bench press, squat, and vertical? "I can go 350 on my bench, around 550 on my squat, and I think I had a 24.5" vertical at the Auburn camp."

Did you attend anymore camps this summer? "No sir, just Auburn."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Defensive tackle."

What are your strengths on the field? "Just my will to take over the game. Physically, I would say my power and quickness."

What do you need to work on? "I need to get in college shape."

How long have you been starting for Waynesboro? "Half way through my freshman year they moved me up. I have been starting ever since."

What were your stats as a junior? I had 79 tackles and 14 sacks."

Did you garner any awards? "I made All-State, District, Area, and I was nominated for the Pop Star Award (MS Half of Fame). The Orlando Sentinel also named me to their (1st Team) All-South squad."

Are you going to participate in the US Army All-American Bowl in January? "Yes sir. I really look forward to it."

Tell us about your season this year? "Oh, it is going good. We are 10 - 0. I feel like we should win our 3rd straight ring this year. We have a good chance."

How is your personal season going? "Well, it is going good, but I feel like they should take the chop block out of the game. They are constantly chop blocking me, but I am still winning and doing my thing."

What are your stats for the season? "I have 60 something tackles and 6 sacks."

Have you had a chance to set up your official visits? "Yes sir. I go to Texas A&M (December 11 & 12), Auburn December 17 & 18), and Ole Miss (January 21 &22). I am suppose to be rescheduling my visit to Nebraska pretty soon."

Who is in the running for your last allowed official visit? "Either Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Miami, or LSU."

What do you like about Texas A&M? "Really, I do not know too much about them. I just like Coach Smith a lot. He is cool to talk to. I have watched them on TV a couple of times. They look good."

Which other coaches have you developed a tight bond with? "I would say Coaches Blake (Nebraska), Luke (Ole Miss), Rump (Memphis), and Muschamp (LSU)."

What attracts you to Ole Miss? "Man, their defense. They have a great defensive line at Ole Miss. They play hard, real hard. Their crowd is crazy too. They just get everybody into it. I am a big fan of their crowd. I just like Coaches Luke and Cutcliffe a lot. I expect to get to know a lot more about them on the (January) 21st, a lot more."

What all do you like about Auburn? "I just like them all over. Their campus, players, coaches, and fans. They are a real good school."

Which schools have been on you from day one until now? "I would say Auburn, LSU, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Alabama, and USM. But, Auburn has the most, from day one."

Have you had a chance to attend any college games this fall? "I have been to Auburn, but that is it. I was suppose to go to Ole Miss this weekend, but I woke up Saturday morning with the flu. I was sick all day, so I could not make the drive. I did get to watch it on TV though."

Have you ever had a chance to visit any of the campuses that you are interested in besides Auburn? "No sir."

What will you be looking for while you are on your official visits? "I just want to go somewhere where I can fit in, and if not start, get a lot of playing time next year. I just want to fit in with my teammates and coaches."

What is your current academic status? "Well, as of the last time I checked, I had a 2.0 GPA and a 15 on the ACT. But, I am retaking it in December."

There have been rumors that you could possibly go straight from the high school ranks to the processional ranks; are these rumors true? "I just try not to worry about all of that. I just want to take it one step at a time. But if it were now, I would probably be going to college, but I just do not know for sure yet. I would have to see if I could get drafted in the NFL. They still have all of that legal stuff going on right now. Sometimes I feel like I can make plays, while I am watching the league, and sometimes I do not. It is just real tough to say right now."
