The Diamond Rebs receive three signees

Ole Miss baseball announced its first three signees of the early fall signing period Thursday, as right-handed pitchers Wes Grilliette, Cody Satterwhite and Chase Ware inked national letters of intent to play baseball for the Rebels.

All three will be eligible for the 2005-2006 academic year.

"These are three of the top pitchers in the state of Mississippi, and all three are from very successful high school programs," Ole Miss assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Dan McDonnell said. "All three have very good velocity with the potential to add even more velocity."

Wes Grilliete

Wes Grilliette, 6-feet-2, 190 pounds, from Oxford, Miss., went 7-7 with a 2.66 ERA in 18 appearances, including 13 starts, for Oxford High School last spring. He struck out 123 and walked 41 while working 87 innings and helping the Chargers to a district runner-up finish.

Cody Satterwhite

Cody Satterwhite, 6-feet-4, 192 pounds, from Byram, Miss., was a first team MPSA All-District South selection last spring while playing for Hillcrest Christian. He recorded a 4-3 record, with one save, and a 4.27 ERA in 13 appearances. He also registered 60 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched. This past summer, he was selected to participate in the 2004 East Coast Professional Baseball Showcase.

and struck out 77 while walking only 10 in 73 innings for Olive Branch High School.

"Pitching has been one of our biggest strengths during our time here," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "We feel that these three will certainly be able to help continue that trend."

Ole Miss went 39-21 last season and played host to its first NCAA Regional. The 2005 campaign will mark Bianco's fifth season with the Rebels and he has recorded a 150-90-1 record at Ole Miss.
