Rashad Roussell's recruiting profile
The following information was revealed during our interview with Rashad Roussell on November 30, 2004:
How is your season coming along? "It is over. It just ended. We could not get any breaks. We killed them cats, but our offense could not score any points."
What was Haynville's (5A) final record? "We went 13 - 1. We had a 27 game winning streak going. We won the championship last year."
Do you know your stats for the season? "I have no idea. I am trying to get all of that together right now."
Any awards been given out? "I made 1st Team All-District and Metro. I was also MVP of our District, and I was MVP of our Metro. I do not know about the rest of them yet."
Have you set up any official visits? "I talked to the coaches about it, but it was on the ACT date."
Which schools are you talking to about visiting? "Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Memphis. Those will be the ones that I will set them up at."
Anymore schools call you within the last week? "That is pretty much it, and a bunch of jucos."
What do you need to become a qualifier? "I do not know, man, so many people are in my ear telling me different things."
Did you get a chance to retake the ACT test? "No, I did not take it, but I am taking the one on December 11th."
Where do you now stand with the ACT? "I made a 14 and I need a 19."
Any inhome visits yet? "Oklahoma State and West Virginia have been by. Coach Woods (Ole Miss) and Knox (Auburn) are suppose to come by next week."
What are going to be the main factors when it comes decision time? "Their people and location. Those are the two main things. The coaches will be important too, but mainly the people and location."
What kind of location are you looking for? "Not real cold. As long as it is not real cold, I am OK. I hate cold weather."
What about West Virginia; is it too cold up there? "My dad lives up there. It is cold up there, but not freezing or anything."
The following information was revealed during our interview with Rashad Roussell on December 12, 2004:
Anymore awards come out since you were named Metro and District Player of the Year? "All-State has not come out yet."
Did you gather your stats since we last spoke? "No, I never got them. Stats do not interest me. I just like to play ball. Who cares about stats. Stats are for losers, you know what I mean. The game is about winning, not collecting stats."
Any inhome visits within the past week? "Coach Billy Woods (Okl St) came but he got fired. A bunch of jucos came. Mississippi State came. Coach Meshaul from La Monroe came. Coach Woods from Ole Miss came too, but he got fired."
Who recruits you for Ole Miss now that their staff was let go? "Coach Hopson."
Is Ole Miss still in it? "They are still one of my schools. They dropped a little bit because I was cool with Coach Woods, but I can not do anything about that."
Have you had a chance to line up any official visits? "Yea, I go to Oklahoma State on January 14th and West Virginia on the (Jan) 21st."
Who else are you considering visiting? "I might go to a couple who are a close drive like Ole Miss, MSU, and Auburn. I am going to talk to Auburn when they come down for the Sugar Bowl."
