Jimmy Johns (QB, Brookhaven, MS) - It looks like the Rebels have made a lot of progress with the signal caller from the Class 4A State Champs, Brookhaven.

The dismissal of Coach Cutcliffe brought the end of Coach Woods being the person responsible for John's recruitment. Now those duties belong to Coach Jay Hopson. It was this move that brought the Rebels back in the game for Jimmy's services."> Jimmy Johns (QB, Brookhaven, MS) - It looks like the Rebels have made a lot of progress with the signal caller from the Class 4A State Champs, Brookhaven.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Jimmy Johns:

How did your season go this year? "We won State (Class 4A). We went like 13 - 1 and beat Clarksdale 29-23 in the state championship game. I was 23-29 for the game. I had 263 passing yards, 107 rushing yards, and 3 TD's in that game."

What were your stats for the season? "I had 24 passing and 20 rushing Td's I had over 1,400 rushing yards and 2,000 and something passing yards."

Any awards start to come your way? "Today, I was named Ch. 12's Athlete of the Year. I was MVP for District 6(4A), 1st Team All-State (MAC), Offensive Player of the Year for Class 4A, and I was the Daily Leader Player of the Year."

What most did you improve on this season? "My accuracy. I threw for more yards. I rushed more yards. My running ability really improved. Really, my overall game improved. It was not just one thing. It was everything."

Have you received any inhome visits this week? "Coaches Croom and Beamer (MSU) come in on Monday. Coach Wyatt (Alabama) came in on Tuesday, and Coach Hopson (Ole Miss) came in last night. Coach Shula (Alabama) should be coming by pretty soon."

Which schools will you take an official visit with? "Those three schools. I am going to Alabama on January 7th, MSU on the 14th, and Ole Miss on the 28th."

What are your thoughts on Ole Miss' new head coach? "I am excited to know they got a coach in there. I do not know too much about him. I have a lot to talk about with Coach Orgeron. I want to know what style of offense he is going to run and what he will expect out of his qb's."

Why are you suddenly interested in Ole Miss now? "Coming in, the coach that recruiting me before Coach Hopson (Woods), he did not sell Ole Miss. Hopson sold me. He calls me every week, talks about everything. The coach before that only called me once. It has been really exciting with Coach Hopson. He has really turned it up. They are one of my top schools now."

What do you like about Alabama? "I went to their Jr Day. I feel like it is a good school. They are always in the running for Bowl games. They have the ability to win championships. I want a chance to win, and I feel like I would have that opportunity at Alabama."

What are MSU's positives? "I have been with their players. I have been to Alabama and MSU. I really liked it at both schools."

What are your looking for when it comes decision time? "I want an opportunity to play quarterback and a chance to win. I want to go to a school that will be bowl eligible and have a chance to win the National Championship. After winning one my senior year, it has given me urge to win one on the next level."

What is your current grade status? "I have a 2.65 Core GPA and 73 units (18 points) on the ACT."
