The following information was revealed during our interview with Alonzo Horton:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 4", 220, and I ran a 4.5 at the All-Star combine."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "A lot of people say they want to put me at rush end. On 1st and 2nd downs, I would play linebacker, and move down to DE on passing downs."

What makes you such a great football player? "I was blessed with size. I am pretty much bigger than everyone else. My aggressiveness and tenacity are big factors too. I understand the intensity you need to play this game."

What are you working on for the next level? "I need to learn to use my hands a little better. If I play linebacker, I need to learn to read the plays a little quicker."

Which camps did you attend this summer? "I went to the LSU 3 Day camp. I went to the Auburn senior camp. And I went to the MSL, Nike, and All-star combines."

How long have you been starting for Marion Abramson (5A)? "The three years I have been playing football, I have been starting. I have only been playing football since 10th grade. I played basketball before that, but I discovered that I love to hit (laugh)."

How did your team's season go this year? "We played an eligible players, so we had to forfeit a bunch of games."

What were your stats for the season? "I had 140 tackles, 13 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 4 recovered fumbles, and 2 defensive touchdowns. I played LB mostly this year."

Did you garner any awards? "I was named All-State, Metro, and All-American. I am playing in the All-American bowl too."

Have you had a chance to set up your visits? "I set two visits up already. I am going to Auburn on January 14th and Ole Miss on January 21st."

Did you commit to Auburn? "Yes sir."

Why are you visiting Ole Miss? "Coach Frank Wilson use to coach at O. Perry Walker (in New Orleans), and he is Ole Miss' new running back's coach. He asked me to come and take a look at Ole Miss, and he has done a lot for me, so I am going to see what it is like."

What is your relationship with Coach Wilson? "Well, even though he was at another school, he keeps in touch with the good players around here. He watches over the players from this area, and he has helped a lot of players get into LSU and other great school. He is pretty much a father figure for a lot of us around here. He is a great person and man."

Do you feel solid with your commitment to Auburn? "Yes, I feel solid."

What all do you like about Auburn? "I looked at their style of play. It is similar to our play and their atmosphere is similar to the atmosphere of the games around here. You look around the NFL and you see Auburn players everywhere. I want to play in the league one day. My family loves the school. I like Auburn too. They are down here for the Sugar Bowl, and they are already treating me like I am a member of their team. A lot of schools back off once you have committed, but they do not."

Do you have any inhome visits lined up this week? "Coach Orgeron, Ole Miss' new coach, is suppose to come by. Coach Tub is suppose to come right after they play in the bowl game."

Have you had a chance to speak with Ole Miss' new head coach yet? "Yea, he has called. He is a great coach. I really enjoy talking to him. He is straight forward and cuts to the truth. He is looking to turn Ole Miss around."

Alonzo carries a 2.75 GPA and a 17 on the ACT.
