In-Home Tidbits

To the pleasure of the Rebel nation, Coach Orgeron is spending his last day as a USC Trojan today!!!!

Wednesday, Coach Orgeron will be on the recruiting trail, and he will be hitting the Atlanta area.

We hear that Coach "O" will visit running back prospect, Brandyn Young, who recently decommitted from Maryland.

Brandon is scout.com's
#47 rated running back and has scheduled official visits with Maryland and South Carolina. Ole Miss has set up a tentative date for January 21st and hopefully that date will be put in concrete after Coach Orgeron's inhome visit.

Another Georgia prospect that Coach O will visit is linebacker prospect Tavares Kearney.

Although Kearney has been in Spirit Recruiting's LB for some time now, he has not been mentioned much.

Tevares is a 4 star prospect who is rated as one of the top 20 linebacker prospects in the country. He was also selected as Atlanta's Metro Player of the Year. Stay tuned, as we believe you could be hearing more from Kearney in the coming days.

Another Atlanta prospect, that will receive an inhome visit from Coach O on Wednesday is Carlos Thomas.

As we all know, Carlos is one of the top prospects in the country. In fact, s
cout.com ranks Carlos as the #10 WR in the country. He has scheduled official visits with Clemson (12/3), Ohio State (1/7), LSU (1/14), Georgia (1/21), and Ole Miss (1/28).

Finally, Wednesday, Coach Orgeron will visit Super 11 selection, Jada Brown.

As we reported last night, Jada is a big time defensive line prospect who is close to committing to the Rebels. He has visited Illinois and is set to visit Marshall, Ole Miss, and USM this month.

Thursday, Coach Orgeron will hit his "home" state, Louisiana.

We hear that St. Augustine trio, Patrick Trahan (S/LB), Alfred Jones (DL), and Selvish Capers (TE) will receive an inhome visit from Coaches Orgeron, Wilson, and Camp on Thursday.

Alfred Jones is a soft LSU commitment and is scout.com's #7 rated defensive end/tackle. He is slated to visit Ole Miss, Miami, and LSU in the month of January.

Patrick Trahan is a 6' 2", 205 pound safety/linebacker prospect that is rated as the #47 safety prospect in the country by scout.com. He is currently committed to Auburn, but with Coaches Wilson, Camp, and Orgeron's connections in that area, look for the Rebs to make a big time push.

Selvish Capers
(TE) is a 6' 5", 250 pound tight end prospect who impressed us at the Ole Miss passing camp. Selvish was committed to West Virginia at one time, but has since reopened his recruitment. Capers is scheduled to visit Ole Miss on January 28th.

As we reported earlier, look for the three St. Augustine prospects to all visit Ole Miss on the same weekend.

Another New Orleans prospect that the Ole Miss staff will visit on Thursday is Alonzo Horton. Alonzo is Scout.com's #11 rated defensive end and is a soft commitment for Auburn.

Look for Coach Orgeron to also visit Kendrick Perry (FB) on Thursday. Scout.com rates Kendrick as the #48 overall running back in the country. It would not surprise us if you saw Kendrick coming out with a public commitment to Ole Miss in the very near future.

Friday, Coach Orgeron will make his rounds in the state of Mississippi with Coach Tom Luke.

Look for those two to hit the state hard with the likes of Archie Sims (LB), Calvin Wilson (OL), Jimmy Johns (QB), and Anthony Johnson (CB/WR).

Right now, it looks like the Rebs are behind with all four of these prospects so hopefully this week will buck the trend.

Effects of Coach Jay Hopson's departure?

Some Rebel fans have voiced their displeasure of former Rebel coach, Jay Hopson, recruiting tactics of late.

Some argue that coach Hopson should stay away from the recuits/commitments that he was recruiting while he was at Ole Miss. Namely, Levance Richmond and Austin Divinity.

But one has to remember, these two recruits were down to Ole Miss and USM before Coach Hopson left for Southern Mississippi. Now that Jay is at USM, it looks like the war has swung in the Eagles' way.

Levance has reportedly enrolled at USM, but our sources tell us that Richmond has yet to enroll at Southern Miss.

Having said that, look for Richmond to end up at USM due to the uncertainty of Levance's scholarship status at Ole Miss.

The Ole Miss staff is worried about the prospects that Jay had built a close relationship with. Jay will not play a factor at USM, but he had formed a great relationship with the following players,
Chad Green (DL), Greg Peterson (DL) Anthony Johnson (CB), Jon Demps (LB), Nolan Carroll (WR), Guessly Dervil (S), and Bryan Evans (CB).

Coach Hopson could cost Ole Miss from getting these prospects because of the relationship he had built with that group. It is too soon to know for sure, but it is a possibility.

Player Tidbits

Our sources are not encouraged by the recent developments of linebacker prospect, Archie Sims.

Archie had been giving the Ole Miss camp good vibes up until this week. MSU looks to be the leader and hopefully Sims' inhome visit with Coach O can turn the tide.

Another key Mississippi recruit that the Rebels look to be behind the 8ball is Jimmy Johns.

Jimmy told our sources recently that Ole Miss was running third behind MSU (leader) and Alabama. Having said that, he also stated to our sources that the Rebels were moving up by the day. It should be interesting to see how much of an impact Coach O's inhome visit with Jimmy will have on Friday.

One of Mississippi's top linemen, Calvin Wilson, is still an unknown commodity. Our sources feel like MSU is the leader, but that is just a gut feeling on their part. Again, we shall see what kind of impact Coach O's inhome visit will have with Calvin on Friday..

TE's

Three tight ends have jumped to the top on the Ole Miss wish list.

They are Michael Johnson, Michael Gates, and Selvish Capers.

Careg Bonner is still in the mix. Bonner was scouted at his basketball game last night by Ole Miss, but we feel he is running a distant fourth. Louisville and MSU are also interested in Careg.

Speaking of Michael Johnson, who is a current soft commitment for Georgia Tech, we hear that Coach Luke will have an inhome visit with Michael tonight. If you look at Johnson's bio, he is a 6' 7" rangy recruit.

We are also hearing that the Rebels might sign all three tight ends if they are lucky enough to land all three!

South Panola Trio

There is good and bad news on the South Panola front.

First, the good news.

Coach Luke brought the new secondary coach, Sean Slocum, with him to introduce Slocum to Derek Pegues.

We hear the visit went very/very good.

More good news, it looks like Dandy Dozen selection, John Jerry (OL), is qualified to enroll at Hargrave Military Academy next year. As we all know, John's big brother, Peria Jerry (current Ole Miss commit) went down the same road and is doing great at Hargrave this season..

Our sources feel very comfortable that John will sign with Ole Miss in February.

Now, to the bad news.

It looks like 4 star prospect, Travis Sanford, is going to have to enroll at N' West CC next fall.

He is not eligible to go the prep school route and his grades did not progress as hoped during the first semester.

Travis, undoubtedly, is one of the best athletes in the country, and hopefully the Rebels will have a leg up on his recruitment when he comes out of the juco ranks.

Official Visit Prospects for this Weekend

None, the staff decided that they wanted the prospects to be around the current football members. School does not start back at Ole Miss until January 18th.

The January 15th weekend will have all of the current players in attendance.
