The following information was revealed during our interview with Gary Riggs:
What were your final stats for the season? "I had 1,182 rushing yards and 12 TD's on offense. That is all I really know for sure. On defense, I had like 48 tackles and 5 interceptions."
Any awards? "I was selected to play in the Army All-American game in San Antonio. I was named Player of the Year in District 5, and I was also named the Player of the Year in our Parish." (Louisiana calls its counties parishes.)
We hear that you committed to Ole Miss? "Yes sir."
Why Ole Miss? "They have been on my case since the last staff was there. They were the first school to recruit me."
Who recruits you now for Ole Miss? "Coach Frank Wilson."
Did you know him before he got to Ole Miss? "No sir, never heard of him."
Have you had a chance to speak with Coach Orgeron yet? "Yes sir, he has called. He told me welcome aboard, and he can not wait until I come on my visit."
When will you visit Ole Miss? "I might change it. It is for January 14th, but my momma might not be able to get off of work that day. If she can not, I will go on either the 21st or 28th. I want her to be there with me."
Will you take anymore visits? "I am going to South Carolina on the 21st."
Do you have any inhome visits lined up? "Coach Spurrier (S.C.) is coming by next Tuesday. Coach Orgeron told me he was coming by some time next week."
How committed are you to Ole Miss? "Pretty committed, but I am still going to take some other visits."
What did Ole Miss recruit you to play? "Safety."
