Xavier Webb is having a monster senior campaign
Pretty good numbers and accolades but it pales compared to the stats that Webb is putting up this year. For the season, the Ole Miss signee is averaging 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 block shots per game. Xavier has already been named the District 13 MVP for the second straight year and many more awards will be on the way after the season has been completed.
Not only are Xavier's numbers impressive, but it is where West Carrol sits that reveals the impact that Webb has had on the court. They are currently 25-1 and will enter the 2nd round of the playoffs next Monday.
The following information was revealed during our interview with Xavier Webb:
What is your current height and weight? "I am 6' 9", 225."
How is West Carrol's season going? "Great, we are 25 - 1. We won tonight. We play JCS in the 2nd round of the the Regionals next Monday."
What are your stats for the season? "Let me get the paper out. These are before tonight's game. I am averaging 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots a game."
What are your shooting percentages? "I am shooting 52% from 3-point, 63% from the floor, and 68% from the free throw line."
Any awards been given to you yet? "So far, I was a McDonald's All-American nominee, and I was named District 13A MVP for the second straight year. That is it so far."
What most have you improved on this season? "I would say my ball handling skills and my jump shot. I have been hitting a lot of 3's this year."
How many? "I think 62 of them."
What will you have to improve on for the next level? "My strength, ball handling, and defensive skills. I know in the SEC, you have to play strong defensively."
What are you maxing out at these days? "I think 215, but that was last summer."
How is school going? "Right now, my grades have improved a lot. I made straight A's in the fall. My GPA has really improved a lot. I am trying to get my GPA and ACT score as high as I can."
What do you need on your ACT score to become a full qualifier? "I need to make a 17, but I am going for much higher than that."
When are you going to enroll at Ole Miss? "A week and half after I graduate which is on May 12th. I go for preseason training in late May, and I will get some classes out of the way at the same time."
Which position do you expect to start out at when you arrive to Ole Miss? "Either the 3 or 4. They have some big guys coming in, so I will probably start at the 3 or 4."
Did you keep up with who Ole Miss was recruiting while you were being recruited? "Yea, one of the main reasons I went there was due to the big men they were getting. I knew that would allow me to play more on the wing and have some freedom."
Have you kept up with any of the guys you signed with since signing day? "I hear a little about Trey Hampton but that is about it."
What are your goals for next year? "I just want to do what I can to come in and be an immediate factor and help us win our freshman year. I will do anything I can to help us win some games."
What can the Ole Miss fans expect from you? "I am going to come out every game and do what I have to do to help us win some games. Whether that is getting on the boards, making a big shot, picking up on defense, I will do it. I will do anything to help us win."
